Urgent, I am a fresher who has just graduated from IIT. My offer is revoked now. It's been months since graduation I was in the SDE domain. What should I do first, learn ML or go with just SDE stuff? I like ML more. Please guide me, and when is the right time for me to I should apply for an ML role

Break down your problem. What are you asking? Im caught between you went to school and graduated but you also want to learn so you can get a job. I think. And you want to know if you should pick ML or SDE.

I graduated from IIT and had an offer from Hexaware SGPT. During my 4 years, I mainly focused on DSA (at most IIT projects are formalities they only ask DSA) but also built a few SDE projects(using AI). After clearing 7 interview rounds, I received a final selection mail. However, after 2 months of no updates, the offer was revoked.
Since I’m not deeply inclined toward SDE roles, I started learning ML, aiming to become an ML Scientist or Data Scientist. I genuinely enjoy ML because of its logical depth. Now, I’m unsure whether to continue focusing on ML—building projects and applying for ML roles, or also keep applying to general software positions. I’m finding it hard to secure opportunities, especially as many of my peers have already landed jobs.

Prestigous university doesnt mean anything if you dont know anything. Dont let that be your scape goat. Apply yourself or things will never change. Code alot of crud applications until you get rich or get hired. There is no secret way to succeed. Just outwork your competition.
