Timex Sinclair 1000 only shows a K and they keyboard doesn't respond. What is going on?

This is the American version of the ZX-81? Glad to see you still get the prompt! Everything everybody else said. Membrane keyboards aren’t robust.

The screws are under the rubber feet on the bottom of the case.

The keyboard membrane is likely dead. About $15 for a new one. Not a big job to replace it.

Screws on the bottom. Some are underneath the little rubber pads.

K is the correct prompt (K for keyword mode). So if you press "P" you will get "PRINT". Maybe you keyboard is busted though? Those membranes are not very robust. You can buy replacements still.
