He might be able to claim the tire jumped the bead en routebut hadn't blown yet so he somehow didn't hear the constant slapping noise but I dunno. Either way his company will likely blame him for the out of service and subsequent contact truck they have to send out

He got the tire replaced and left. I was thinking it was a “fix it ticket” considering that there was no inspection.

I've never been placed oos but been told that as long as you fix whatever deficiency caused it you're good to roll so I just would just leave too.

So.... your buddy sent you a court of a citation? I've never done that.

He should probably bend over and grab his ankles

Hell be ok.

Doesn’t look like an inspection form who might’ve caught a lucky break. I’d fight the citation. How did he not notice a flat on his tire

Btomesch@reddit

Tires can go flat while driving. They don’t just happen when your parked and doing pre trip lmao

Largofarburn@reddit

Tires are like windshields. It always happened a few miles back and you’re just going to the next shop to get it fixed.
View on Reddit #63795555

Microshlongg@reddit (OP)

According to him. It happened while he was driving and never caught it. He was coming from making a delivery in a construction site

OkSeaworthiness251@reddit

He had a tire off the bead no reason a quarter-assed pre trip couldn’t catch this.

Tricky_Big_8774@reddit

I guess you only pick up nails while parked?

OkSeaworthiness251@reddit

Walk around while getting fuel or after using the bathroom? Checking mirrors for a bulging tire? I don’t do all the excuses.

It's really sad just how shit yalls reading comprehension and understanding of FMCSA and DOT inspections are. These aren't citations. There's no fine. They are simply violations. And only one was OOS. Outside of DataQ there's no option to fight these, and good luck getting them to even look at a DataQ for these unless you have clear and overwhelming evidence the inspector was wrong. Not sure how many points the DOT number violation is, but I've seen drivers with far more violations and ones that are more clearly safety issues keep their jobs or even be fine getting hired elsewhere, although their options were certainly limited.

Spirited_Wasabi9633@reddit

Um...it literally says citation in all caps lmao

Just had a company driver get a violation for PSI. PSI was at 85, visible screw puncturing the tire between treads and you could feel the air coming out. This was during an inspection at a CHP inspection point. Driver was about 150 miles into a 200 mile run. I am sure the screw was picked up from the hwy within 10 miles of the inspection. Of course the tire was repaired before leaving but pretty shitty of the officer to stick it to us like that.

I have oos on my csa and still get fuel hauling jobs

“USDOT NUMBER NOT DISPLAYED” That alone will have them take the truck, and if he is an Owner-Op, it will be his license.
View on Reddit #63783595

amazingmaple@reddit

LMAO. No they won't take his truck. I seriously hope you are being sarcastic.
View on Reddit #63786849

Microshlongg@reddit (OP)

Not displayed on passenger side. I think he’s a company driver
View on Reddit #63783698

Ok-Bar5260@reddit

He will only be mildly screwed then, but still screwed all the same. Gonna make his safety score drop significantly
View on Reddit #63783923

Microshlongg@reddit (OP)

He fighting the citation. We’ll see how that goes
View on Reddit #63783999

CakewalkNOLA@reddit

It's not going to go well for him. Chances of getting 2 OOS violations dropped are slim to none and slim just left town.
View on Reddit #63785194

Microshlongg@reddit (OP)

I’m guessing he’s screwed with it being a ticket instead of an inspection ?
View on Reddit #63786507

Ok-Bar5260@reddit

Inspection or ticket, either way he’s kinda screwed.

The 2 pieces of tape can only hold the piece of paper for so long
View on Reddit #63783843

polarjunkie@reddit

This really isn't a big deal unless you're trying to get a sensitive job at a place with a really good CSA score. Any safety sensitive company is going to assume it's his fault and others are gonna assume stuff happens.
View on Reddit #63785743

HowlingWolven@reddit

Pretty bad.
View on Reddit #63784449

Microshlongg@reddit (OP)

I asked why he didn’t take a ticket instead of a warning. He could’ve won that in court. But he’s fighting the citation
