We still talking about bird watching?
I finally caught two hummingbirds at the feeder at the same time! I actually had my phone and was behind the blinds so they didn't see me. So excited!

I have three females that fight constantly, one usually sits up over the feeder and dive bombs the others when they come up to drink

My hummingbirds get pissed at each other and throw each other off. Theyre absolute jerks to each other. They'll come back to the exact spot for one and two years after the feeder is removed Don't use red dye! Keep your feeder very clean.

Yes, same! This is very recent after 3 years here. And yes, make it from scratch with 1/4 cup sugar with enough water to make just over 1 cup. I clean my feeder every 4-5 days unless it gets empty. Use just soap or maybe diluted vinegar and rinse it well. Love my little ones

I was just discussing with my partner how things have changed since I started watching the birds. A social filter I am going to be using when meeting new folks, to see what kind of people I am dealing with, is asking them what kind of birds live in their area. If they can't answer, I know that they are in totally different headspace than my own at this point. I've just come to realize that people who are not paying attention to the smallest life around us are probably not going to pay attention to pretty much anything you contribute to that relationship.

I kinda felt bad, earlier I was on our deck smoking a bowl and a humming bird flew into the cloud of smoke and just kinda hovered in it like a drone for 30 seconds before flying off. I wonder if it got high?
