I’m completely indifferent to it. If they want their current flags, that’s fine. If they decide to change, that’s fine too. Canada used to have a flag with the Union Jack on it, until they changed to their current flag back in the 1960s.
Personally I would prefer if they have the Golden Waddle for Australia and the Lockwood Fern for Aotearoa/New Zealand replacing their current versions of the Butcher's Apron, especially since they are unreflective of the indigenous population. However, that would have to be a vote by the local population and not us.
Yes. But you’re missing my point. If I gave you a list of flags, just pictures. How many could you name? My point is that there’s are easily and instantly recognisable (for most of us 😂)
They'll give me a semi but I find the lack of a full size Union Jack prevents me from achieving climax without also having to flick through the Royal Calendar - must be pre-Charles though.
It's a funny one but to be fair not many people pay attention to state flags outside of their own state.
Like aside from California, Florida and Hawaii I don't think I know any.
Shit. It's a shame new Zealand didn't change theirs in the referendum. Basically all the alternative designs were better. My favourite was the kiwi bird with laser beams coming out of its eyes
I like them, but I'm not a big fan of them being so similar. I do think the NZ one with the fern on the left instead of the union jack, looks pretty nice, probably in red over black though.
Ah now you see that's a trick question.
One of those is a zoo where all the wild beasties are kept so they can be funny and scary in one place.
The other is merely a fictional set made by Peter Jackson so is probably in storage somewhere ready for when he wants to butcher more JRRT material.
They look quite similar and honestly make it look a bit like they are still colonies. That said, it’s in their own power to change to something which looks more distinctive, even if it was just a colour change.
In what context?
Have I got the hump that they've got the Union Flag on it?
No.
There's no real bearing on anyone's life that it's there.
Just shows our relationship around the commonwealth and their loyalty to KC3 still being the man on the money.
More power to them if they want to change the flag of their own nation. It doesn’t really impact me, personally. We print the union flag on everything here anyway, it’s not sacred like the flag is to other nations.
Um. Don't think about them often I'll be honest....it's cool that NZ wanted to redesign their flag, loved most of the potential suggestions. I do need to consciously remember which is which so if NZ had decided a change, would have made it easier 😊
