Wired issue on Windows 11 24H2

Hi, Encountered a wired issue on Windows 11 24H2 English. Recently user received an e-mail with attachment in Outlook. File name is in Chinese character. Once use open the attachment or save it, BSOD and restarted. Last time once deploy Windows 11, Sync Center also triggered BDOS. Finally disable could solve it. For current issue, I have no idea. Therefore, seeking help here. Thanks

Is the attachment a legitimate one that the user is expecting? If not, it could be malware of some type. Other than that, you would need to provide details on the specific BSOD error. I wouldn't expect it to crash, even if you didn't have the right language pack installed.

I have tried to create a blank Word file with Chinese characters name. Computer encountered BSOD immediately. But no BOSD after restart even create again. Also tried to start Outlook in safe mode and open same attachment but not triggered BSOD.

Try again without safe mode, but with all Outlook add-ins disabled. Then enable them one by one. I'm guessing an add-in is causing the crash because it can't handle the characters.

Tested even create new file wiht name in Chinese characters also BSOD. Then configured full memory dump and re-produce the issue, but no DMP file created. Any idea ? Thanks

It’s internal document sharing between colleagues. I also tried to create a word document and naming with Chinese characters, BSOD encountered but not every time. I can type and show Chinese characters in web browsing / typing / read file name, but just encountered current issue. Remembered BOSD message is “PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA”.

My professional opinion is that you shouldn't open unexpected attachments in emails. Chinese character filenames or not.
