DeepCool Assassin VC Elite Review: The best cooler you can’t buy in the USA
Cons: Not available for purchase in the US-
LOL
Soggy_Association491@reddit
You can still buy them on china shopping sites and ship them to the US, no? It is not like there is much to worry about shipping or warranty for a hunk of metal.
GreenPanadol11@reddit
tarrifs is an issue i believe
seatux@reddit
I just upgraded from a NH-D12 Chromax to a VC Vision and to me it runs quieter than Noctua. They both would still hit the 90c max for the 5800x3d in no time, but Deepcool drone sounds more muted for me.
Important_Ad_1573@reddit
Do you reach the same wattage on both ?
seatux@reddit
I did not take note of the wattages. Mine is not comparable to stock anyway since like many owners of that CPU I had to put a .25 Mw undervolt
Important_Ad_1573@reddit
Yes but i guess the boost could raise you temps to 90 degres on both but on one you can reach 160W and the other was boost at 150W, thats how you détermine the perf. Or you are on a fixed power consumption but most of the time you put and offset and not particulary a fixe vcore
Gippy_@reddit
This is the cooler that was shown being produced in the factory tour video last month. Nice to see that it's out.
upbeatchief@reddit
So deepcool is really finished in the us huh?
imaginary_num6er@reddit
Well yeah. They directly supported the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Why else would none of these Chinese PC hardware companies not be sanctioned?
TexasEngineseer@reddit
Typical CCP corp lol
duncandun@reddit
Didn’t they just sell coolers to some third party company that used them in computers that they sold to a company supporting the Russian military?
bizude@reddit
I wouldn't say that just yet. We'll likely see them back on our shores in due time.
mechkbfan@reddit
I'm always surprised Toms doesn't have the D15 G2
Anyone know why?
bizude@reddit
The NH-D15 G2 sample I received was defective, and didn't perform as well as it should have. I might ask them for another sample in the near future.
kikimaru024@reddit
Wasn't that just the rattling issue?
I hope you're not feeling pressured to change your review because people didn't like how you called it overpriced.
IMHO this DeepCool shows major strides forward in design compared to Noctua, who are still using fan clips even though they complained that fan clips put bad pressure on the frames.
bizude@reddit
Mine was overall noisier than the G1, I think the fans were defective - That's why I've removed those results from recent reviews.
While most of the time I would simply request a replacement, I hold Noctua to much higher standards - especially given the many delays the product had allegedly to ensure QC.
I might revisit it simply so people have the comparison data they want.

Personally, my favorite mounting solution so far is the one on the 612, because it both allows standard design fans AND allows them to be slid on rail style. Coolermaster really seems to be getting its groove back in air cooling ATM.
revengeonturnips@reddit
Bit of a sidepoint, but I recently had to deal with DeepCool's customer support (I was upgrading, and needed an AM5 mount kit for my Ass III), and I'd quite like to nominate their CS department as a reason for them to have an extra entry under the Pro's section of the review summary. They were great - zero fuss and really quick turnaround to get a new mounting kit for a cooler I bought something around 5 years ago.
I hope they continue the same policy when AM6 releases. It makes it a whole lot more palatable to spend three figures on a chunk of metal knowing that a build or two down the line, it'll be the only part that can still be in use and able to perform at a premium level.
Jeep-Eep@reddit (OP)
Yeah, following the Noctua business model but less pricey is honestly wise because you can reasonably upsell to an overkill tower because it will be overkill over two sockets and reasonable on a 3rd and 4th.
Though I'd be more willing to play that model with something using a more standard form factor and mounting fan for when that finally runs out... which why I am curious about the FSP MP9 because it looks to be the first cube to my knowledge with that spec.
got-trunks@reddit
Nearly 2KG for an air cooler is a crazy amount of metal lol. I like it.
Jeep-Eep@reddit (OP)
Predictably, given the price tag and the last model, a dominating design.
I suspect VC 'cold plates' will be a feature that proliferates not so far off - for example, given CR's VC low profile cooler I suspect the successor to the Gladius will sport one.
