I don't know what to do as I am about to be fined. I can't change my driving licence details either without having a valid driving license. when I open the link in my app to try to prove it it says you have to open it in the app and open the link with option that says open link in app. there is no option to open link in app. What the actual hell how can they put a whole regulated product like this on BETA MODE - how can you publicly test a product in beta and make it a requirement for regulative purposes? It makes no sense what is wrong with this shit country. I literally grew up with technology, am young, and work in tech and I can't make this work, let alone some poor old person trying to navigate this.

I used the old fashioned method - someone very helpfully put it on Reddit. This link takes you to the old website so you don’t have to use the One ID nonsense.

I am having the same issue about 8 months after you all. Same looping in continue log in page and going nowhere.
And I am sure it’s just a way to collect revenue for late fees.

Sort of. I dug out my old iPad and got the app on there. Even though it tell you that you can only do it on a phone, it turns out that was false because the app worked fine on the iPad and I was able to get the new license successfully.
I've come to the conclusion that the government just hates android users.

In a nutshell it's one of two ends on the conspiracy-incompetence scale.
Either the UK government are pushing Apple (US) over rivals (mostly Chinese/East Asian) (at the slight detriment of Google's Android, which is merely a Gatekeeping mechanism to control the non-Western mobile market and devices).
Or the UK government are intentionally avoiding hiring competent software developers to create enterprise software. As most of the government systems look like they were developed by University graduates. I've noticed this is more so the case nowadays than back in the 80s and 90s, where there was actually a lot of talented 'genius' people doing this (usually those rebellious kids that were kicked out of school. where's the next generation of revolutionists in each industry???).

I have iPhone and still wouldn’t work, system crashed when I tried to use post office option, ended up borrowing one of the kid’s iPads, which worked. Took literally hours failing to get through the whole thing - glitching all over

Its shit, I managed to get in once, but now they have added an extra layer of complexity if you have no UK phone number you have to use an authenticator app, since then I cannot access UK Gov services

In case anyone else has the same problem. I got it to work on my pixel phone.
I had to install the app. Go to settings > Apps >Default Apps > Opening Links
Then make sure "Instant Apps" was set to "On"
Scroll down to find the app "UK.gov.onelogin" and make sure it had the "In the app" selected.
Then close the app.
Then open the app.
And it work. It took my quite a while to figure it out! But glad I did as I don't have an old ipad!

At this point, I should have started a poll for people with this problem asking if they have an android or an iPhone.
Hope you find a way around this. As I said to someone else, I was able to get around it by using an old iPad.

I seem to be just going around in circles. Using Android 16. It sounds like I need to buy and old ipad!
The really worrying thing is the same people who designed this system are the ones designing UK Digital ID.

I can confirm it's still fucked. And driving me spare - no pun intended.
I have to drive miles to the nearest Post Office to fill in a paper form. In 2025. The previous system worked fine, the Gov one Login does not.

Need to have a public inquiry into these contracts that the government is awarding to develop services. As it's obvious the standard is TERRIBLE. Each company should be spot checked to see the quality of their services on test projects.
We know it's a scam, it's just a case of getting proof and throwing this at the law. Scam would be a gentle word. The better word would be economic warfare/treason.

Tried on my phone and got a miniaturised site that I couldn't read.
Tried One login again just on my phone and NOW it says that there's a problem with the service - try again later!

I'm stuck in this hell right now! I tried a few months ago to change my driving licence address and got stuck when Experian didn't recognise me. Now I'm trying again because I can't afford a £1000 fine and can't link the one.gov Id app on my phone to the website on my chromebook because the second QR code doesn't display. Off to try the alternative link now!

I got it to work by closing the Internet app, deleting the gov app, reinstalling then opening the app and proving my identity there. Hope that helps

I managed to get around it by using an old iPad, which the app did thankfully work on. I'll update my post now to add that.
