Army vehicles on the move in Eastern Louisville/Jefferson county, KY

Was stopped at a railroad crossing this evening by a roughly 5 minute long train of completely open US Army vehicles (many of them say US Army on the side) heading North in Eastern Louisville/Jefferson county, KY. It was a ton of army vehicles. I did not catch any unit numbers, but some of them had what looked to be gun mounts.
The only Army base anywhere near here is Fort Knox and that is almost an hour Southwest of Louisville, so there's no way these were coming or going from Fort Knox. The next closest is Fort Campbell, but that's in Southwestern Kentucky on the Tennessee border (so this would be even more out of the way). So, there's no way these came from anywhere near Louisville.
Not sure exactly where they were headed because that train line branches into a couple different directions. One is Northern, KY toward Cincinnati, another is across the river into Indiana toward Evansville, IN, and the other is across river going North toward Indy.

Fort Knox also has a war museum and adds to their exhibit often. I haven't been there in years but there are all kinds of old equipment outside and inside. It's called the General George Patton Museum Of Leadership.
Idk about now but when I left the base in 2016, it was more or less turning into a supply depot. Could be all it still is now. But, trains filled with military equipment was so common, you'd barely register it going by after a few months there.

Military hardware moves all over the country on a daily basis for a variety of reasons.
For just one example, you can't say you know how to mobilize a bunch of hardware to anywhere in the country in X amount of time unless you periodically actually do that and make sure you really can.
