Pointless, so it's quite possible the reptile brained orangutan currently polluting the White House thought it was a great idea.

We have 14 Ohio class SSBNs. Each of them carries 20 SLBM missiles, and each missile has independently targetable warheads (MIRV). Hiroshima and Nagasaki had an explosive yield of 15 and 21 kilotons, respectively. Each individual MIRV has up to 475 kilotons yield. Each SLBM can carry up to 8 of these, so each boomer has the capacity to deliver 76,000 kilotons explosive yield, or 5,067 Hiroshimas. And that's just one single sub.

Each boomer averages 77 days at sea, then 35 days in port, so at any given time we have at least 10 of them on patrol.

One single Ohio class sub is capable of taking out every major city in Russia or China, or every inch of North Korea four times over.

Point being, we *already* have enough bang sitting off of Russia to destroy Russia. Two more subs, if this is true, just disrupts the Navy's SOP.

And that's not even getting to the other two parts of the nuclear triad, which are also on point 24x7x365.

The reason this is happening is because they suspect that the 8.8 earthquake was not triggered by natural causes but by the Russians firing one of their new Poseidon torpedoes which Putin claims cannot be intercepted and can be armed with a nuclear war head and detonated in such a way to cause massive tsunamis.
