Have you ever gotten a First Class train ticket?

I've done it a few times for very long journeys across europe or as a little treat on Eurostar. I've only done it in the UK on rare occasions it's a cheap upgrade because the journeys aren't that long. For the most part you just get a slightly wider seat and some more leg room but it makes all the difference if you're spending all day travelling. It's *usually* a quieter, but not always. Some operators give you some food or drinks included. Eurostar give you a cold meal in Plus or a hot one and lounge access in Premium (but you pay a LOT more in Premium). Trenitalia gave me a couple of snacks and a drink on their high speed trains, but I was only on a short journey. Comfort class on their night trains give you a nice breakfast and a little essentials kit. Renfe in Spain were possibly the most impressive I've seen. I paid a little more on top of my ticket and they served a full hot meal at my seat. SNCF, DB and SBB don't give you much more, but if your journey is long, the upgrade is still worth it just so you're not squeezed in next to someone and you can properly stretch your legs
