Pigeons can be persistent, and most DIY deterrents only work short term. While bird control isn’t the same as general pests, companies like Orkin focus on preventative pest services that address underlying attractants when rodents or insects are also part of the issue.
Pigeons are the hardest birds to get rid of, partly as they seem to have a high tolerance to threat levels and have no alarm call. The key issue with any deterrent is habituation -this is where the bird works out the deterrent is not a threat as it's got used to it and ignores it. Ultrasonic devices are useless as birds can't hear them. Bird deterrence is a big deal in aviation and agriculture and there are lot of field studies. Neither of these industries use ultrasonics as they don't work. Pigeons don't like fast changing bright lights. So reflective tape or windmills that move in the wind can work. Tape may be better as it can make a noise when flaps. The other method is to use bio-acoustic scarers that use predator calls to frighten the birds away. These are used extensively in agriculture and at airports. My advice would be to use a combination of reflective devices and an audio bird scarers. You can find them on Amazon from brands such as shooo and bird-x.
I've been told having the Russian or Israeli militaries shell your area daily does deter pigeons.
Somewhat drastic though. A falcon is less wear and tear on house prices.
Find a local Pest Control company with a Professional Falconer. It’s not cheap, and it’s not instant, but they fly the hawks in your area a few times, and the pigeons learn it’s not a safe area for them and move on.
Motion sensitive high frequency wildlife scarers pointed at the tree all day (in the summer, they need light).
They’ll move on…

These things are bollocks though because I can hear them clear as day, I'm nearly 40 and have been going to punk and metal gigs regularly since I was fourteen.
Good ones have a frequency adjustment but I’m older than you and I still hear them close up.. but if they’re on regularly enough (when you’re away or indoors) the birds just learn to avoid the area, I know this as occasionally I forget to turn them back on at the alotment and there is still no bird damage 4 days later!
Options :
12-guage.
Cat.
Sentry gun (water pistol, Nerf darts, paintballs).
Jury rig something on the roof so when you pull a string through the window, something (pole and pieces of cloth, whatever) moves to scare them off (resets when you release).
Then automate it, if you can.
How weird is the algorithm this literally showed up right below lol [https://www.reddit.com/r/london/comments/1mdgj51/spotted\_in\_leake\_street\_tunnel/](https://www.reddit.com/r/london/comments/1mdgj51/spotted_in_leake_street_tunnel/)
