That’s… Disingenuous. Rimac were worth more when VW acquired them, than Bugatti was when it was absorbed. Plus, Rimac literally provide components for, and collaborate with other car manufacturers. VW didn’t just hand the keys to upstarter Mate Rimac, and said “good luck!” Rimac was very much *well established* and lucrative when they combined with Bugatti.

A "noname" company that produces the fastest electric car in the world, and supplies some of the best technology and component production to some of the industry's biggest names: Porsche, BMW, Hyundai/Kia, Aston Martin, and other partnerships that aren't publicly known. Rimac was already well known by anyone who has an interest in cars. Bugatti is in good hands.

I don't think Rimac a literal noname company although they haven't totally sold out their own model. Rimac has had many incredible EV techs for Exotic car, and some of exotic famous makers adopt and use their powertrain including Koenigsegg and Pininfarina. You don't wonder why VAG letting to operate Bugatti and given them financial support ( Porsche family is now Rimac its biggest shareholder ).
