Is £39000 Working in STEM a good mid level salary for the Midlands?

Need more info.. Working conditions Working hours Team composition How well you enjoy the role I'd rather take £39k and be part of social team, with good working conditions than a toxic environment. Currently £51k, each day I consider leaving.

Might be, what do you do? If you're a mid-level Software Engineer or Data Scientist, you might be under paid (depends on whether you are any good).

Is that base or with projected benefits such as bonus? For software engineering (as in OS support) base seems a little low, with benefits it seems very low but it depends on what you mean by STEM engineer - that covers a lot. Not sure if the location other than London really matters anymore.

Depends on where in the Midlands. Some areas you can buy property starting at £100k, others you'll struggle to get a bed sit for under £200k.

That’s a pretty good salary for a low COL area, lots of spare cash to enjoy life. As to whether it’s good for 5yoe it depends what type of STEM. It’s a little low for software engineering but about average for some other types of engineering
