Happyrun g300 pro mods?
Posted by Deep-Most2115@reddit | ebikes | View on Reddit | 58 comments

I’ve really been enjoying this happyrun g300 pro. It gets around pretty well buttt I do wish it had an extra 10 mph. I know these are pretty new but is there anything I can do to beef it up some? I thought maybe I could use a far driver connector but no this controller isn’t compatible with that.

Put on a new rear tire today. It’s a squeeze but it fits! Controller delivering tomorrow. CANBUS ND72450 w DKD display

Thanks everyone for your awesome input. Just ordered the ND72450 and screen. Also changing wheel diameter in the settings to 8 inch unlocks full potential and acceleration with stock controller.
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
ALRIGHT NOW WERE TALKING :)!! let me know how it goes !!
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
This is what needs to be removed because the width of the controller is 1/4 inch too wide. This allows everything but the heat sink to be flush inside the body.
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
Size difference. The stock controller is only 50 watt.

Thanks for the update!
I just placed my order for:
• ND72450 with DKD display
• 72V to 12V step-down converter
• Handlebar-mounted key switch
• Waterproof connectors
How are you planning to integrate the turn signals, headlight, and brake light into the setup? I’m assuming I will have to add a blink relay to control my turn signals
Please make sure to document and take pictures of your installation!
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
Awesome! Thanks for the reminder, I just ordered the key wsitch also. Why the step down to 12 volts?
Pale-Hyena7008@reddit
Econics recommended running the DKD display on 12v instead of connecting it directly to the battery. Is there anything else I need to purchase before diving into the install? I see you mentioned a male hall connector
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
Still trying to decide on mounting. Waiting on male hall sensor plug to finish wiring.

--Update--
I cut the slot for the ND72450 to fit. I ran out of daylight so I wasn't able to finish the cut on both sides. Pic shows one side fitted to illustrate only the heat sink will be exposed and will be flush when mounted.
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
Absolutely! Still waiting on tracking#. Can't wait to see what she's really capable of.

I know you dont have it yet, but I have a question. How does one connect the battery terminal on the g300 to the fardriver? Is it as simple as rewire the connection between the two and then set the battery in the bike like normal?
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
If you take the bottom plate off you'll see the yellow male/female plug that connects the stock controller to the battery. I'm just going to eliminate the plug and connect directly to the new controller.
FYI the fardriver controller is to big the fit in the stock location. I'm going to cut out the bottom to get it in there. If I cut this section out, the black part of the controller will fit and the cooling plate will be exposed. I'll take some pics during the process. Gonna be some work but Im in too deep to quit.
Few_County1631@reddit
Did you get it work and if so what are the benfits?
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
I won't start on it until Friday, so I can work through the weekend to get it done. The benefits are getting access to the full potential of the motor and battery. Stock Controller just doesn't cut it. Once I do start on it I will take pictures along the way and post results and the far driver settings used.
Few_County1631@reddit
Thank you keep me updated I’m heavily interested in your build progress!
Yungasaku@reddit
Yeah please document this I want to see this done
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
good work here you should really document your work since you'll most likely be the only.
proper_jazz@reddit
Thanks for answering. And yes, please document the process. I have no idea what I am doing here
Yungasaku@reddit
Where did you order your tires from?
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
For anyone who needs it, here are the links to all upgrades.

Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
wait a sec the front wheel are 19s. you were able to fit MICHELIN TIRE PILOT STREET 90/80-17 ?
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
No, I ordered the 19. I'm not sure why the link was to the 17
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
okay that makes sense. how difficult was it to fit? i wanted to go wider with the rear wheel setup maybe 110/70-17.
Jumpy_Chocolate3491@reddit
I was kind of in a rush, so I just picked one that would be the quickest shipping. I definitely wish I would have gotten a wider rear. There's definitely plenty of room to do it.
Yungasaku@reddit
Hell yeah awesome dude just ordered the tires for my bike and I’m planning on buying that controller next
Ordinary-Opposite-50@reddit
That front tire fits fine? It's an 80/100 and the rim is a 70/100 right? Also what size tube are u using? 80/100 as well? Or the 70/100 that comes on the bike?
Sufficient-Royal-985@reddit
how fast roes it go? what range do you get?
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
I dont have a full battery test of the range it had 40-50% charged the day I bought it and I carried it 24 miles at the highest setting. At a full charge at max speed I’m sure you can achieve 40-50 miles in a single charge. On a full charge I can go 14 miles with only about at 15% battery loss.
Future-Data-6383@reddit
How did you achieve 56 mph did you change the settings
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
Changing the wheel diameter on these changes how the torque comes on. It will change the accuracy of the mph shown but it definitely achieve a speed of 60 on its lowest setting. Trading initial torque for higher top speed of course. It will read 17mph or so at its “max” (I haven’t seen it tap out in just a bitch)use something else to check the speed. I’ve gotten it to 63 but.. kinda sketch. And obviously draws more battery. At that speed these brakes are also sketch so warning
CurtC1990@reddit
So you just changed the wheel diameter and it got more speed ? What did you change it to in order to go 60?
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
i changed it to 8. the lowest is 4 i think. (it's not going to read 60mph on the display and you will lose battery a bit quicker)
texasbamaboy@reddit
How would one change this setting? I can’t find the details online. Sorry to burden you with the question.

What throttle is this ?
CurtC1990@reddit
I recently got a g300 pro I love it gets me where I need to go im super happy with it from what Ive been seeing people are getting it and trying to compare it to a mid drive this bike is a hub motor and will never be able to do what a mid drive does I've put some upgrades on my bike already I upgraded the front sproket so I can actually use the pedal assist like up to 15 mph before that it was pointless and I upgraded the pedals grips and Bar ends and number plate
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
i have disregarded that argument for a while. this hub drive it's fine for local roads with traffic. but nice upgrade! Personally i couldn't bare the pedals and chain anymore. i turned off pedal assist(because you'd have to pedal to achieve top speed and that's kind of dangerous) and switched to pegs.
CurtC1990@reddit
What do you mean you have to pedal for top speed I can go 50 with just the throttle no pedaling? Just curious
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
on pedal assist, it wouldn't go to 50 unless your pedaling fast. having to pedal at that speed is kind of stupid and dangerous when your going as fast as traffic. in my experience ,the sway from peddling gets really dangerous after 44mph not to mention i already played w the limits with pedals on. the only thing you should be focused on at 60mph on the bike is SLOWING DOWN. every rotation on pedal is about 30ft. it just sucks to rely on the pedals. it's unpredictable. pedals make it legal sure but they are in so many ways just useless. throttle only feels the safest IN MY EXPERIENCE. i do use this bike to commute as if it were a moped so it could be different for you. but i surely wouldn't want to be peddling from a stop light next to cars.
CurtC1990@reddit
Yes that's crazy mine goes 50 no pedal assist just throttle only might want to check your p settings bro and yeah I keep the pedals on so it's still considered a bike but yes that's crazy I don't have to pedal one time and throttle only can go 50
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
that's fine though that issue is long gone i truly won't be using pedals again. i've also switched to the handle bar to drag bar, extended the wheel length and using street tires so it would be silly for me to go back now.. on 40 mile commutes i can't possibly act like this is a bike.

i still enjoy it. it's still fast to me mods or not
texasbamaboy@reddit
I know these motors have more power in them and if we could get into the controller we could push it more. But no one has attempted to even try from what I’ve seen. I can’t even find information on what kind of controller is in the g300 and the g100pro a bit I know they are the same. Whoever attempts to get into this thing will have tons of views on that video!
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
INDEED!! i spent days trying to find this controller until i went into the rabbit hole of alternatives. i wish i remembered at this moment to give you the same references but im afraid ive deleted those screenshots. but pretty much switching controllers was the only solution as theres no connection for anything else(this is the stock controller)
Crazy-Bother-8678@reddit
Any luck?
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
Haven't looked into it since but have enjoyed the stock speed and busted my ass a few times so.. no rush😅
ConfidentDealer4818@reddit
Yes it has been done with a 72450 far driver and kick ass lol
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
I was waiting for a comment like this:) thank you! Voided the warranty was always the plan
Various-Spot3624@reddit
Has anyone confirmed the fardrive controller won't work I'm following a dude in a FB group attempting to us a fardrive but he just burnt up a Flipsky 75100 in the process
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
I've looked at the controller to see if it's compatible with the far driver that most use in the tutios. It's not as straight forward as to plug one in but with some obvious wiring you should be able to get a controller on. I haven't dove into it just yet.
Various-Spot3624@reddit
50mph max and i get about 40 miles if im pinning it
Deep-Most2115@reddit (OP)
Thats pretty good ! 20 miles to and 20 miles from. I haven’t gotten the chance to drain the battery
