Speeding Ticket

My attorney is currently fighting a speeding ticket I got five days ago in my personal vehicle. 7mph over the posted limit. Should I report it to my company or wait till it’s dismissed

Read your employment contract carefully. I have worked for carriers that require disclosure on the tickets being issued regardless of outcome, and like my current employer only requires conviction data to be provided.

Yep. If you don't report it and they find out. It's automatic termination with some companies.

Mine is 10 over is a warning letter(can get 3-4 in 18 months before fired), 20 over is instant termination, but not reporting one even if it’s 2 over is instant termination.

Check your company's policy. Most have you report any infraction since it will show up on your MVR if they ever run it.

Some companies require that you report it within a time frame of the incident. Which is why I said check with the company policy.

Easier to report it and say you’re fighting it than to not report it and get fired for reporting it if found convicted on it.

Just read the agreement you have with your employer. Some agreements can require reporting any official detention or police investigation immediately once you are free to do so. So it all depends on the exact wording.

The best policy on this is to give them a heads up. They can’t punish you for something that’s not Officially on your MVR yet but if a situation occurs where it does end up on your record and you don’t tell them until you lose then they could be pissed about it. I work for one of the safest fleets in the country and we have to report that stuff within 24/48 hours I’ll add this though. With a 7 over you’re fine. If you were to get fired today that ticket alone wouldn’t hurt you

I don't care what your company (or mine, & I've told them that) says or thinks. I'm not reporting shit until I'm found guilty. If I'm paying for the lawyer and I did something in my personal vehicle, then it sounds like it's my business and mine only.
