Where do supermarket chocolate digestives actually rank?

Alright, serious question for the biscuit lovers of Britain: when you’re skipping the McVitie’s and going own-brand, what’s the real pecking order?
I’ve always thought Aldi’s chocolate digestives are a bit of a hidden gem, solid crunch, decent chocolate, and dirt cheap. My other half insists the Sainsbury’s ones are top tier. But then I had a Tesco one recently and honestly, it tasted like regret. Barely any chocolate and just… sad.
So what’s the general consensus? Which supermarket nails it, and which one should be ashamed of themselves? Looking for the definitive ranking here.

Mcvities make the ‘by Asda’ ones. So there you go

Marks are pretty decent. McVities aren’t what they used to be.

I've just discovered chocolate covered custard creams in fatmfoods. I think they might be better than chocolate hob nobs I shall have to do much research to be sure.
As to the OP questions I've not found any better than cavities but asdas are OK for their price

Lidl ones are good. I sometimes get their hobnobs, plain or chocolate and I probably prefer them. Their own brand twin is better than the brand as well. Caramel wafers dont match tunnocks though

The Lidl ones are good but there's something just not quite right about them. They taste... greasy or something.

Aldi and lidl steal other company‘s food designs so i never buy them
Figueroa_Chill@reddit
They are decent, but when you eat a McVities, you realise the shop brands aren't that great.

Unpopular opinion - once they're dunked in tea, they all taste the same :)
nasted@reddit
The truth is that some brand biscuit manufacturers actually make the same biscuits for supermarkets. None of them will disclose who makes for who though as supermarket brands are cheaper, of course.
But a good tea dunk is the great biscuit equaliser.

The recipes vary sometimes for own brand made on branded line. Worth checking ingredients list.

I've never found a fitting replacement for proper McVitie's Chocolate Hobnobs, but they take the piss where shrinkflation is concerned. Or I'm a greedy bastard. The packs don't last two minutes.
Juniper2324@reddit (OP)
They are gopntier to be fair, quite pricey though
LittleDiveBar@reddit
It's good golly Ms Molly for me, available at Tesco.

Be quiet, we don't want everyone to find out lmao
PapayaPinata@reddit
The Ms Molly’s brand at Tesco are top tier (and cheaper than Tesco own brand). Good amount of chocolate, good crunch, thick biscuit. Aldi come a close second for me personally.

I love those

I'm sorry you lost your job, OP

IMO Lidl chocolate digestive outstrip McVities. Lidl's have a nicer crunch - akin to M&S ones.
Gullible_Wind_3777@reddit
Cheap Asda own cookies are the one. But with milk or tea.! Haha.
But if the biscuits served, isn’t caramel digestives, I won’t be eating it. Best bikkie ever.

M&S - even plain digestives from there are good, let alone when you add chocolate! I think they use Demerara sugar in the biscuits so they have a really good crunch and aren’t like bland, cardboard!
Plane_Security_2859@reddit
I wouldn't know I'm exclusively Lidl and Aldi to try and get value. I also try not to buy snacks to balance the copious amount of beer I drink.
mrskristmas@reddit
The Sainsbury's dark chocolate ones are good but a bit smaller than branded ones. M&S ones are good too.
Medium_Roof_3745@reddit
I like the M&S ones.

The answer for own brands is usually Aldi.
