what’s a combobulator?

i’m fixing my car and one of the mechanics charging me for a bunch of shit idk what a combobulator is tho is it worth $9k lmk
Whack-a-Moole@reddit
Try getting your car recombomulated instead. A fair bit cheaper, and works 60% of the time, every time.
HistoricalCarrot7900@reddit
Good to know how to recombobulate your car on your own though, especially if your combobulator breaks
xlcox@reddit (OP)
wai t what does that mean
xlcox@reddit (OP)
okay thanks!
TacitRonin20@reddit
It's a component that keeps your car from becoming discombobulated. A discombobulated car is unsafe at anything even close to highway speeds. You'll probably have to have it towed.
Volhazardous@reddit
LMAO Bro this is the golden comment. I laughed this for a solid 5 mins
No_Product_7474@reddit
lol
Dry_Pilot_1050@reddit
It’s the part that mates to the retro encabulator. I think Rockwell has some educational stuff if you look up retro encabulator.
xlcox@reddit (OP)
this isn’t real tho
Dry_Pilot_1050@reddit
I think you need to read up on your engineering. I would suggest starting with logarithmic casings.
nuclear_farter23@reddit
He will probably mount Static Dummy Amulsified Sensors like those ricers. But that only masks the real issue.
Admin0002@reddit
Yeah it could be that the baseplate has gone bad. If I recall correctly it was made of prefamulated ammulite, and the way the 2 spurving bearings are surmounted to the logarithmic case makes it really hard to replace. So more often than not, you have to replace the entire unit. Which explains the $9k estimate.
CanoegunGoeff@reddit
And don’t forget about those pesky waneshafts. You don’t want those buggers to side fumble.
ted_anderson@reddit
Came here to say this same thing. Those doggone spurving bearings. But you explained much better than I could have.
sohcgt96@reddit
If the spurving bearings don't get you that darn drawn reciprocation dingle arm will, every time.
mysteriouslypuzzled@reddit
I hope the original poster isn't a genuine dingleberry
RandomGuyDroppingIn@reddit
I remember when we used to hand tune combobulators with a flat head screwdriver and a mechanical pen spring. Completely lost art now that they have angle sensors below the ammulites.
WhiteBeltKilla@reddit
Honestly $9k is decent, my thingy majigs kept going on mine. I think it was actually a recall but i cant remember
OutsideAd3064@reddit
9k is a steal! Either your guy has a cheap source or you're getting a reconstituted combobulator.
Comfortable-Figure17@reddit
It stores and applies blinker fluid
Turbulent-Matter501@reddit
There is no such thing. They are ripping you off. Take your car to a different shop or mechanic immediately. For them to even say this to you means they are criminals.
Tabbykittycat59@reddit
You're being scammed
xlcox@reddit (OP)
but i can’t find it anywhere😭
EloquentBarbarian@reddit
Go watch Sherlock Holmes starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.
Tabbykittycat59@reddit
Yeah because you are getting scammed! It's not real.
charliemike@reddit
Because it’s not a thing.
Ixiiion@reddit
it fluctuates your congrometal vectors inside the air chamber
brik55@reddit
What you really need is a turbo encabulator.
dababy407@reddit
It’s connected to the tarbinator
Imaginary_Weird6027@reddit
Never buy a remanufactured recombobulator. The Spurving bearings are not always rebuilt out of the ammulite like they should be and sometimes are out of tolerance having a direct impact on the turboencabulator as well as making the blinker fluid boil from built up residual heat.
I will check my garage, I may have a set you can have
frikkinfai@reddit
You might save a couple grand if you just replace with a recombobulated combobulator
Own-Review-2295@reddit
such a good video
Miserable_Job2892@reddit
It’s definitely possible to be discombobulated
ClimbaClimbaCameleon@reddit
It’s what gets the fluid from the doodad to the thingamajigger.
xlcox@reddit (OP)
this isn’t funny 😒
chibicascade2@reddit
That part literally doesn't exist. It's the same as saying thingamajig.
Honestly your post kinda just reads like a shitpost, which is why everyone is joking about it in here.
ClimbaClimbaCameleon@reddit
Thats a perspective issue.
FartZuggerberg@reddit
If this is a genuine question— it’s not a thing. Maybe a carburetor? But your car likely wouldn’t have one unless it’s from the ~1980s or older.
In any case, ask for an itemized estimate if you’re worried about getting ripped off
longhairPapaBear@reddit
I once knew a girl with a discombobulated hoohah.
mynameishuman42@reddit
It's kinda like a Beeblefetzer with more electronics.
9BALL22@reddit
No such thing.

a-hole
No-Stress445@reddit
If the combobulator is no good the car is basically worthless !
Admin0002@reddit
Yeah I think you misheard him. He’s likely speaking about the turbo encabulator
