I get your point but I just think the only way these things get released is if we make a big enough stink and replace people who are currently in power who don't do it. Biden for example, is a sick old man at this point with basically no power. He's basically irrelevant besides being an informative case in point. I'm kind of wondering if Trump is actually telling the truth - that there's nothing in them anymore - although I'm getting a strong vibe that isn't the case. A lot of time has passed; plenty of time to scrub and destroy incriminating documents. It wouldn't surprise me at all if there's nothing notable left.

I also wonder if this was indeed an Israeli operation in coordination with the CIA, which would be a massive scandal and would likely end the spigot of money and weapons to Israel. So, let's be real. What the right wingers basically alleged, which is mostly false, is that there is some sort of mythical list somewhere with 100% ironclad evidence that specific people are pedophiles. Such a list doesn't exist. Trump cannot actually release it because it never existed, even though he promised to release it in the past. Ultimately Biden and Merrick Garland are "process" guys. They never would have done things purely to embarrass Trump, it always had to be "by the book." The book says you prosecute people and don't put evidence out until you're done. Garland was a Republican and the whole point of his appointment was to "heal this nation" by having "unity" and moving on from the Trump era.

It was during the Biden admin that Maxwell was prosecuted and convicted. But Biden or even Garland didn't directly touch that.

Again if you're going by the book you shouldn't release the files. It should all be handled by independent prosecutors and only much later would any evidence come out, after you've convicted everyone involved or at least tried to.

The problem now is we are all obviously skeptic that they ever would try to do that (either party) so we just want the files out in public so at the very least we can draw our own conclusions.

However the ironic thing is, I don't think Trump supporters would be convinced even if they found everything in the Epstein files connected to Trump. Why, cause a lot of it already did come out one way or another and they are masters of spinning it and giving excuses. If Trump didn't act so guilty about it by stopping their release they'd probably look the other way.

This gets back to my original point, there is no ironclad list. It's just a bunch of evidence that someone can choose to excuse whoever's name appears by claiming they were an innocent bystander or like Trump supporters say, they were friends until they saw child trafficking, then they stopped being friends. We swear.

I am not by any means an expert on the history of Epstein and the cover up. From my limited understanding, Epstein flew a lot of folks around to various locations, including the infamous 'island', but apparently many of the flights and associations with Epstein comprised of a lot of "shmoozing" to gain powerful connections. Epstein was a wealthy connected guy and a lot of people wanted to be around him for that reason alone. Lots of those people were in the "black books", but I don't think every name in those books were diddling children on the island (I could be wrong). It's easy for people to dismiss the connections because there were so many others also connected to Epstein who all claim the same things, some of which probably weren't being scumbags (? maybe).

But you are absolutely spot-on...he's acting awfully guilty, and that's what raises my alarm bells too. The very words he's using make me cringe. But still...there's no solid evidence to see so far, so supporters will easily dismiss it. And TBH it does cast reasonable doubt. But i you forced me to bet money, I'd put my money on Trump being disgusting with Epstein many times.

I have a little more faith in Trump supporters, mainly because I'm in a lot of the conservative subs and I've seen how pissed they've been about this whole Epstein debacle. Of course Reddit isn't really representative of the populace so it's hard to tell, but I think if someone produced actual evidence they'd revolt. They pretty much already have, particularly a lot of the big conservative voices such as Matt Walsh and Megyn Kelly. It's pretty bad for Trump, which is why he's scrambling and attempting to appease his base (badly). I don't think conservatives would make excuses at all. Correction - there would be some holdouts, but I think most of conservative land would be freaking disgusted to say the least. But it's going to take some hard evidence to do that. Right now it's just "yeah, it seems bad but there's no proof."

I think many conservatives know Trump is slimy. Most voted for him based on policy, not personality. They're willing to look past his sliminess as long as he governs like he promised. This Epstein backtracking is backfiring...it's making a whole lot of Trumpsters think and ask questions. So let's break this down. First point is, there is no "definitive" list. The only way you can compile a list is like, your name is mentioned and it's suspicious. Trump is definitely on that list, and so is Gates. Is it ironclad proof, maybe not... but the point is Trump is in the files and for sure that is one reason why he doesn't want it released.

The reason I think Trump is guilty though, is not just because he's in the flight logs or in Epstein's black book. I mean, those are huge pieces of evidence but it's not all of it. His birthday card, his comments about Epstein liking young women, his history of barging into underage girls' dressing rooms, the accusations filed in court from underage girls against him, the fact he wrote in his book that he got calls from "the mysterious Jeffrey," promoting Acosta who had the "sweetheart deal" with Epstein, I mean .... there is just way too much. Add that how obviously freaked out he is by the release of the files, and there's an obvious conclusion to draw.
