I think it's just generic reflector tape. I have a couple of these in silver. Ranging from 5cm to 100cm. Often used around the intake. They're available in normal and glued to a glass fibre mesh. But honestly I never understood why you want to insulate your bonnet. Unless you're driving in Siberia. I would rather add thermal conductivity to make it work as a heat sink :D lmao. It it to protect the paint?

I bet it is to protect paint and limit noise, from an oem perspective. The heat sink idea is interesting. I reckon when folks get to modifying their hoods for cooling reasons, they just go with vents. I think the stuff in the image looks cool and I like the idea that each section seems to be made from one piece. The oem insulation in my car is sagging and fugly. :P

Yeah. Mine is also falling apart. Now as I think about it, the paint thing might be bullshit tho. Cars sitting in the sun all day heat up way more than my bonnet after driving flat out for an hour :D If you like the appearance go for it. You can buy the tape in basically any tuning shop online under "heat shielding" or a similar category. I got myself this tape for stuff like the heating system fuel tank, to protect the ECU a bit from the heat of the oil cooler, rubber hoses of the hydraulic system and on the LPG tank next to the muffler. It does work.

The sun is definitely hotter than my engine where I live.
