Planted 7ish butternut squash seeds/plants this year and already have a good 10 fruits set with more on the way. I'm already satisfied with my garden productivity for the year and looking forward to a winter of roasted butternut cubes and butternut squash soups, even if nothing else sets fruit (which it has - tomatoes, ground cherries and zucchinis are well under way and okra finally blooming as well as beans and edible gourds). Have a volunteer tomatillo in my garden - no local tomatillo seedlings available, and when I went to order on Etsy, the sellers misrepresented shipping date because they didn't have packing materials available (they claim; might be a money grab) because they were stuck at ports of entry. Still waiting on ANY second plant so these blooms don't keep going un-set to fruit. Probably going to request a refund from Etsy soon because if I were out of packing materials, I'd just reuse Amazon boxes and crumpled up newspapers.

The slow one feels bad to me right now. I keep talking to people at work how have their heads in the sand and don't want to talk about "politics" because "nothing has changed". It makes me crazy because it's so clear to me that everything has changed it's just on a slow wave coming for us... So I kind of wish it would implode so that these idiots pay attention. BUT at the same time I'm not really ready. Sigh. Having the time is important.

I’m finding the slow burn to be worse. We’re as well prepared on our little homestead as we possibly can be. But in the meantime, I’m still reporting to my nursing job, doing my best to care for laboring women and their babies, despite Draconian laws that limit the scope of our care and in the shadow of possible ICE interference. Until things deteriorate to the bugging in stage, it feels like a slow walk through hell in which we’re forced to continue business as usual while we watch our society fall apart.

This is the everything else weekly post.... You can talk about nearly anything here (least to the extent of reddits policies) we had one guy years back talk about spaghetti... and it was honestly hilarious. You staying on topic, is actually ENCOURAGED to post here. My answer to your question: While minimal has its place in flexibility, NOTHING beats negating 3rd party risk by having your preps on and in hand and being able to be self reliant. SOOOOOO many situations in life are "nobodies going to help you but yourself" and often even when you have a fair amount of $ (as the price can triple or more in an emergency.) so I take that approach. Right now I'm focusing on being able to deploy my tools / preps longer distances to work and help others while sustaining myself comfortably.

Is anyone else like why are they arresting roofers at Home Depot for what's essentially a misdememor but not a single American besides Epstein has been arrested *even if we just arrested those Virginia Guiffre named* ? Apparently felony r@pe and child abuse are perfectly legal in the US. If this doesn't speak of government billionaire tyranny and control I'm not sure what else does. France arrested the perp Giuffre named and the US did basically nothing to the perps.
