I have been using Windscribe for years Their marketing is obnoxious But the service is good and works well and reasonably priced Easily bypasses Netflix region checks and works fine in countries that have restricted VPN access (for example in KSA you can't login to Nord without a VPN already on but Windscribe has no such issue)

You can either upload ID or you can upload "a selfie" which then gets age verified. But given that Reddit (or the company they outsource this to) have no idea who you are let alone what you look like you can upload a pic of any adult.

I personally use Private Internet Access. They’ve been fine. They were offering 97% cash back on a 3 year deal with topcashback so it’s cost me something like £3 for the last 3 years. I highly recommend using that site. I just had a look and Private Internet Access and Express VPN are currently offering 100% cash back. NordVPN have 95% cash back and some other ones have lower percentages. I think any of those will be perfect for OPs needs. No idea how they make any money offering those kind of cash back deals but that’s not my problem.

Makes no difference as far as Reddit use goes. It's down to age verification laws in UK coming into force. There have been separate Terms & Conditions for UK based Redditors for dome years now anyway.

Mysterium is a decentralised crypto based VPN service which allows you to use others domestic connections as an exit node. All traffic is unseen. I used to run an exit node on a raspberry pi. It's very affordable and no centralisation or bulk exits. Sites cannot tell you are using a VPN using this. They just see regular domestic traffic.

I use a custom windscribe plan, costs me about £2 a month and you can just pick a couple of regions. I've got UK and Albania as mine. Albania as it cuts out adverts on YouTube as well which is nice.

When are you asked? I am not asked but also I face restrictions so I don't know how to lift them even if I wanted. For those suggesting use VPN I suspect certain subreddit see this as being a bot and permanently ban you which is a pity. But again I am not asked to verify so if I wanted to check nsfw stuff my only way would be the "improper" way
