No, I think that the people blowing this story up should *also* be focused on the motivation, which is that ICE is acting recklessly and innocent lives are getting caught up in it for the sake of insane quotas. The Florida detention camp is atrocious and even criminals do not deserve that treatment. Legal citizens are being pulled off the street. There is a much broader problem that is getting ignored. It's not about whether what this guy did was right or wrong (it's wrong) it's that all of the other shit that is context around this is getting ignored.

Just for reference, the officer that was shot was sent home later that night, so likely he either got some stitches or just a bandage. The neck is a really bad place to get hit with a bullet because everything important runs through it, so if he didn't get any kind of surgery or overnight hospital stay for at least observation then the only likely injury was to the surface layers of skin.

The narrative from the right was that a cop had been shot and taken to the hospital, but was expected to survive, implying the cop had been grievously injured. They were running with this narrative for days after the cop had been sent home later that night with non-lifethreatening injuries. That being said, the charges and punishment will not be affected whatsoever by whether the cop was hospitalized, or sent home with a bandaid, neither federal nor state laws vary in that regard. The main issue I had was, why did FOX et. al. need to amplify and exaggerate what happened? Was it to get clicks from their target audience? Or to actively stir up yet more rage amongst their fans? Of course, FOX has stated they're not in the news business, they're strictly entertainment, but too many people treat them as a credible news source and FOX is abusing that misplaced trust for political reasons. If it upsets you to find out the cop wasn't seriously injured at all, the only thing I can suggest is that you look within yourself to find out why a cop not being as hurt as you were led to believe has had that effect on you.
