What household item/appliance do you think is underrated?

I recently bought myself a diatomite stone bath mat, and I think it’s so vastly superior to any other bath mat. Looks a lot better and the way it dries so fast seems like magic. It’s a very simple product, but I was just wondering if there are any other products like this that aren’t very common in uk homes that you think are underrated?
Also I’d give a shoutout to a rice cooker if you eat rice often. So much better than using a saucepan.

A Braun blender. I've got one that is a stick blender (great for soups) and also is a thing (goddamnit I can't think of the word) for chopping up food into pieces. Super easy if you're making something that call for finely chopped garlic/onion/whatever else. Argh, just looked it up and I think it's called a Multi quick. Anyway, it cost about £25 and I've had it for over ten years.

I have a decent electric grinder now but I still get the hand one out sometimes, quite meditative while the water boils then cools a bit 🧘🏽♂️

Yeah - some mornings it’s a chore - but it teaches patience perhaps!

Ozone generator to get rid of smells (have 3 dogs and it’s absolutely amazing).

Would it get rid of cooking smells?
rebeccawithgoodhair@reddit
For sure! You can’t use it everyday because you have to shut the room for an hour and then air it, but it would definitely get rid of any lingering smells!

What is the bath mat’s texture like? My flat’s small and my cat has to cross the bath mat once she’s finished with her litter tray. Is it something that could collect the litter crumbs?

No i think it would get dirty very quickly tbh. They’re only really designed to allow water through. It looks like solid stone but they must have very tiny holes and I think a mesh structure within which allows the water to seap through and spread.

I have one and love it but I don’t think they’re underrated in the uk tbh!

Remote controlled plugs. Forget wandering around turning on all the lamps. One control, all on.
Also really helped my mum after her stroke. She struggled hugely to get to the switches, until I got her a set of these remote controlled plugs, she bloody loves 'em.

I have never heard of that bath mat but it sounds great!

Yeah they’re great. I think they basically have a mesh type structure, so when you stand on them the water drips into them and dries off very quickly. I’d recommend trying one out for sure.

I have a Misona brand one. Thin but very durable. We love it.
