What is faster for gaming
Illustrious-Owl1446@reddit
Better to get the 5600 non x
goodkindofsick@reddit (OP)
Why
Slight_Mongoose7881@reddit
Don listen to him the 5600x has more cache than the 5600 so its better for gaming. Only reason to get 5600 is it has integrated graphics
Merfium@reddit
Because you’re paying more for a 3% increase in FPS. That’s only 1-3 more FPS per game. Hardware Unboxed did a video showcasing it in recent games.
QuaintAlex126@reddit
Because their performance in gaming is very similar due to the fact most games cannot utilize more than 6 cores, much less 8.
Educational_Cover478@reddit
"same cpu" and proceeds to say how a 5800x is better in every way. 8% is quite alot considering its only around 60 dollars more expensive than a 5600
quipstickle@reddit
The 5700X3D is much better for gaming than both.
Blue-150@reddit
Definitely is, though the 5800xt in US has been on sale at about $130 where the 5700x3d is about $285 and an AM5 CPU/Mobo/Ram combo is about $250. I'd go am5 before a 5700x3d.
GiveMeGoldForNoReasn@reddit
Where are you finding an AM5 combo with ram for that kind of price? A 32gb kit of DDR5 is at least $250 by itself right now.
Fellfresse3000@reddit
For double the price
Lighning05@reddit
But also much more expensive, They're around 220-240 euro in Europe, I remember when they were much cheaper on aliexpress but now they're just unavailable, I really hope the price come back down again so I could grab it
trophicmist0@reddit
And the 5800x3d if you can manage to find one, mine is still holding up incredibly well.
Puzzleheaded-Pen3558@reddit
Get 5700x3d
KevinMcNally79@reddit
While those are the best gaming chips for the AM4 platform, they are hard to get at a decent price nowadays. I just checked completed listing on eBay and used 5800x3ds are going for $350 and up. If you have micro center near you, you can get an AMD 7700x bundled with a motherboard and 32gb ram for the same price. Just a little more and you’re looking at a 9700x or even a 7800x3d bundle. It’s hard to justify dropping that kind of money for a used CPU on an old platform when you can upgrade to a new AM5 platform for around the same price.
However, if you can get either CPU for under $150, go for it. Unfortunately I just haven’t seen deals like that recently.
throwpapi255@reddit
I got the 7600x3d bundle for $400 at mc. Actual steal
DuuhEazy@reddit
5700x.
PureWolfie@reddit
X3D or go home.
misteryk@reddit
maybe some people don't want to pay 200% premium for like 30% more performance. https://youtu.be/l3b7T5OohSQ?si=wLjcur6-S99tORM0
FranticBronchitis@reddit
30% more performance in the cases where it makes a difference, because there are also scenarios where it doesn't help at all
LeadershipEuphoric87@reddit
Yeah. For pure gaming, idk why the regular series even enters the conversation.
StressExpress1999@reddit
probably cause money? in my country 5700x3d costs twice the 5700x
BoreJam@reddit
Yep same here 7800x3d was twice the price of a 9600x and the 9800x3d is 2.5 times the price.
And for gaming ap 1440p ultra wide it didn't seem that it made much difference
Naerven@reddit
They are the same CPU, but the 5800x has all 8 cores active. In games that can use the extra two cores the 5800x is faster. In games that use 6 or less cores they are even. Overall this makes the 5800x something like 8% faster for gaming.
For productivity 8 cores is better than 6.
Acrobatic_Row8399@reddit
OP, make sure not to get confused and buy a 5600G, 5600GT or 5700 because they have half the L3 cache.
Jamenuses@reddit
Wow, idk if AMD could make that any more confusing for the average buyer.
OliTheOK@reddit
another example: the ryzen 5 7400f is better than the 8400f
empusa46@reddit
I’m planning my first build ever and this information is super useful, thanks.
DarkseidAntiLife@reddit
No gaming difference between the 5600x and 5800x, productivity is another story. AM4 X3D chips are marked up ridiculously expensive ATM.
Adept-Recognition764@reddit
Gamernexus did the tests before. 5600 and 5600x, the difference is like 1 to 2fps, and between a 5800x, the difference is max 5fps (or like 3% faster). Unless you plan to do productivity, the non x 5600 will be better in anyways.
And if you plan to do productivity, a 12600k is much faster than a 5800x (and cheaper).
Rezeakorz@reddit
5800x price difference is so small.
mca1169@reddit
5800X, lots of games will make use of all the 8 cores and give you a little bit more FPS vs 6. but mainly it is just a better value in the long term.
Running_Oakley@reddit
My time to shine! 5800x unless you upgrade every couple years, then just do 5600x and wait till you hit a major detectable limit.
AssaultBlaster@reddit
Ryzen 5 5600 (Non X).
9okm@reddit
As close as makes no difference.
RomanJ55@reddit
There’s no point in buying a Ryzen 7 CPU over a Ryzen 5 unless it has the extra cache from the X3D chips. The additional cores and slightly higher clock speeds make almost no difference in gaming performance.
