We never admitted but we all loved Kenny G

I always confused him with Warren G

I remember in 6th grade, my best friend was put on the spot on who his favorite artist was and he blurted out Kenny G. In high school, he would go on to love bands like Biohazard, Pantera, and Hatebreed, so I made sure to always make fun of him for this.

that album still fucks…. facts

Between that guy and Air Supply my mother ensured that my taste in music would never involve them or related artists.
Not a fan, but there is a reason we know about these acts. They indeed made music a lot of people loved and made dentist waiting room comfortable.
Kenny G made me punk as fuck and grungier than a moist truck stop towel.
Blackn35s@reddit
I believe he is a pretty good golfer.
Sal_Paradise81@reddit
I refuse to call him anything but Kenneth G.

Howard Schultz and Kenny were friends I guess to some capacity, Kenny apparently was an early investor in Starbucks. So my years working at Starbucks were filled with Kenny G playing in the background more so than I would have liked.

I'm fond of a moment that happened during the pandemic when he played bluegrass saxophone for a fundraising event.
Adventurer_By_Trade@reddit
Now I need to track this down!
indecisivesloth@reddit
Ed Helms was the host. I couldn't find the exact clip where he appeared as a surprise, but here they are playing Billy In The Lowground
Adventurer_By_Trade@reddit
Ah, there it is. I was tying to imagine how it would sound, and then boom - Flecktones. I had forgotten that I'd been hearing Soprano with bluegrass for years through Jeff Coffin. Thanks for sharing that!
Ajj360@reddit
He kisses just like my dad
Unit_79@reddit
No. We didn’t. Especially my friends that played sax.

Saw him play the national anthem at a SuperSonics game.

After listening to him speaking on Bill Maher’s podcast, I feel even more conflicted about him. I mean, he’s not a bad person but there are certain ways about him which make me wonder if he’s being authentic in a way…

I played alto and tenor sax into college and other gigs. In high school, when I was a freshman, there was a senior who played soprano sax and I thought it was amazing, and I wanted to add it to my repertoire…then Kenny G happened and I never touched a soprano sax again.
Adventurer_By_Trade@reddit
Same - and to add, my grandmother gave me a Gerry Mulligan CD for my birthday one year, and I immediately picked up the bari. Still my favorite horn, especially down past the low F. Shakes you to the core!
RatherB_fishing@reddit
Just a side note… better than Yanni
karaloveskate@reddit
That’s not saying much
protoman86@reddit
That album is a excellent and I don’t care what anyone says 😂
AltruisticCompany961@reddit
Belongs in the same discount bin at Goodwill as Yanni.

No thanks. The saxophone craze of the 80s was enough for a lifetime.
RatherB_fishing@reddit
Please see my comment… I’m pretty sure these is a video that will one day surface.
RatherB_fishing@reddit
lol… fuck me… as a kid my parents took me to one of his concerts, well I was a kid (idk 6-7) and had to use the bathroom, walking back to the seats he was in between sets and caught eyes with me and my dumb ass (still the same dumb ass) just said “how’s it going”… and he was surprised and replied and we literally talked for a minute in front of like 20k folks in their Canadian tuxedos… Yea I should have gotten sterilized.

What about Michael Bolton and im not talking about the guy from office space im talking the no talent assclown Michael bolton
bootyhole-romancer@reddit
Disagree, he's a good singer. Maybe not your cup of tea, but definitely not talentless
General-Emergency767@reddit
Kenny G., sounded okay to me, but to my musician friends they didn't like him. I did not understand why. When I think of an instrumental from back in the day and it has to be, RISE, BY Herb Alpert & FEELS SO GOOD by Chuck Mangione. Kenny G., is definitely not my go to. Basically, because I can't name one of his songs.
thenwetakeberlin@reddit
I have pretty solid evidence that at least some of us most definitely did not.
No shame though — if you wanna bathe in whatever Kenny G is expelling, godspeed and you can have my portion.
