Help with ADATA SSD Legend 900 2TB Event Viewer error 129 - source: stornmve "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued". The computer freezes for a few seconds at times.

Hi, I built a new computer:
- SSD: ADATA legend 900 2TB
- Motherboard: ASRock 850M Pro-A
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D
- GPU: Gigabyte RTX 5060 Windforce 8 Gb
- RAM: DDR-5 2x16 GB 6000 MHz Patriot VIPER Venom CL30
- Power supply: Chieftec A-90 GDP-750C
- OS: Windows 11 Pro
And unfortunately the computer freezes completely for 2 seconds and then continues to work. This happens 1-4 times a day and can happen at literally any time even when idling. Accompanied by this event in the event viewer:
129 - source: stornmve "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort1, was issued".
ADATA SSD ToolBox and CrystalDiskInfo find no errors and show "Good 100%" status. Temperature is normal.
Here's what I've already tried:
- сhanging the power plan settings to high performance (turn off hard drive: 0 and the PCIe power management to "off"),
- updated the BIOS,
- updated the chipset driver,
- made sure the latest SSD firmware was installed,
- made sure AHCI mode was set in the BIOS,
- made sure there was a "Standard NVM Express Controller" in the Device Manager,
- disabled virtual memory,
- disabled the EXPO profile of the RAM,
- disabled HMB (host memory buffer),
- completely formatted the disk and reinstalled Windows 11,
- moved the SSD to another slot,
- optimizing via ADATA SSD ToolBox.

I'm using same nvme adata legend 900 2tb, it cause error 129 did almost everything you did other than reinstall, it will cause like system freeze 20-30sec when that happened
My spec: - CPU: Ryzen 7 5700x3d - GPU: Rtx 5070 inno3d - Mobo: MSI B550M A Pro - RAM: DDR4 Team Delta T Force 3200mhz (2x16GB) - PSU: Corsair RM650e (2025) - OS: Win 11 Pro
I just order nvme with actual DRAM on it (Sn850x 2TB) and waiting it to arrive, will check if issue persist or not. Will be back next week to update this comment
Time-Ad6576@reddit
So it is a problem for adata legend 900 2 tb. Cause i got that specific ssd too and it also does that
YamRevolutionary9870@reddit
looks like that, since we manage to find this thread. gonna make final verdict once I got my new nvme and tested it for a week. it's getting annoying causing my pc freeze at least once daily or twice, but once it do that it won't happened again until your next session
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
AMIGO SOLO RESPONDEME ALGO PORFAVOR TU NUEVO DISCO WD SN850S 2TB ya no tienes error de ID 129?
YamRevolutionary9870@reddit
hello, I don't have any problem with sn850x now everything is good. also I read in this thread you can put your adata legend on second m.2 slot and not install OS on it should work properly
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
Entonces me dices que el problema netamente que tenias era con el disco ADATA LEGEND como sistema operativo, la marca como WD SN850X valen la pena para comprarmela estoy entre esa y una samsung de disco.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
Mine kinda keep freezing randomly sometimes multiple times in a short time. So im gonna try the above solution which is downgrading my windows hopefully that fix it. If not well new ssd or warranty it is.
reylek@reddit (OP)
How full was the SSD when the problem started? Is the SSD partitioned?
I just have a theory that it has something to do with filling up the SSD.
Before buying a new SSD, there were no errors or freezes during formatting in the first days. Perhaps there are no errors now because it is not filled to a certain level.
YamRevolutionary9870@reddit
I was thinking the same after >500GB it start doing that, when I use it for 2 weeks there was no problem, once I start download more and more game into it, then the problem started.
I don't use partition, os and game file in same place
reylek@reddit (OP)
Yes, the limit is somewhere there. Now this SSD is installed as an additional one and is filled to 215 GB, no problems yet.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
Hmm mine is definitely filled > 500 gb so i guess thats that. And i assume no luck even with warranty? Or you just go buy a new one straight?
reylek@reddit (OP)
The problem remained after rolling back Windows to version 23h2?
I handed it over to my service center with a description of the problem and the steps taken, because it is difficult to reproduce the error. But they checked it using a template, in the end I just lost 12 days. They are just very busy and do not want to delve into the details of the problem.
Service centers are different, maybe you will be lucky. If I handed it over again, I would strictly write the only step to reproduce the error: fill the disk > 500 GB as the main OS disk (as an additional one - not yet checked) and just wait for the error to appear in the log in the log regardless of the idle / use mode.. I had the opportunity to return the SSD to the store up to 14 days from the date of purchase (the radiator should not be used), but I contacted on the 15th day xD
Time-Ad6576@reddit
XD dang thats really close. Well i just rollback my windows really late at night so i havent gotten the chance to try. Hopefully the freeze is gone and everything is back to normal. Ill write the update once i test and use it for longer time
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
Amigo como te fue con la restauracion de windows te volvio a salir el error.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
I did partition it into 2 parts. But its not exactly what i would call filled because i still got over 1 tb empty space
reylek@reddit (OP)
I also used two partitions, the problem supposedly appeared when the SSD was filled to 300-500 GB in total.
YamRevolutionary9870@reddit
tested for 2 days now with almost same amount file size on my sn850x (>500GB), there is no stornvme error so far
reylek@reddit (OP)
Thanks for the comment. The ADATA Legend 900 SSD installed as an additional disk when filled to >500 GB also does not give errors 129 for 4 days. It seems that the error is reproduced only if there is an OS on it.
ZontraxZ@reddit
has it frozen again for you so far? I´m having the same problem, but if there´s nothing left to do I guess I can use my older and way slower sdd for the os
reylek@reddit (OP)
My OS is installed on a different SSD, and the ADATA SSD is used as a additional disk. There are no issues, everything works as expected.
ewwink@reddit
I also have problem with Adata XPG Gammix S70 Blade, regular use and it failed after 6 month

Sorry for necroing, currently facing this same issue, thankfully I have a secondary Samsung SSD, so I will do a windows install on that one and keep that Adata for cold storage or games since it seems the issue only arises from having an OS installed. Hopefully that fixes things
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
AMIGO TE FUNCIONO Y NO SE SI ME PUEDAS DECIR EL MODELO DE TU DISCO SAMSUNG PARA COMPRARME TAMBIEN TENGO PROBLEMAS DEL MISMO ERROR CON EL KINGTON
mnarvaez_m@reddit
Yeah it worked. Any Samsung or WD SSD will do tbh. Mine's the Samsung 990 Pro
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
WAOO GRACIAS AMIGO VOY A COMPRARME ENTONCES SI SE QUE ESTAN CARITOS ESE TIPO DE DISCOS PERO SI VALE LA PENA LO HARE MUCHAS GRACIAS.
reylek@reddit (OP)
At the moment, the SSD works fine as a disk without an OS, I hope it will help you too
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
Chicos permitanme molestar en su foro pero entonces que me recomiendan en mi caso no tengo un disco Solido de la marca Adata pero si con Kingston me recomiendan cambiarlo porque tengo el mismo error.

The commands mentioned in the video are each executed individually, one after the other, in the CMD window.
These Commands
reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies\Microsoft\FeatureManagement\Overrides /v 735209102 /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies\Microsoft\FeatureManagement\Overrides /v 1853569164 /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f reg add HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Policies\Microsoft\FeatureManagement\Overrides /v 156965516 /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

After research and conversations with Jimin, I think the Instruction that made the difference and solved the problem was the third Instruction in video .
sethjensen@reddit
i swear bro Adata Legends SSD is ass i bough two of them and both of them has this issues now im switching to Samsung and it work perfecly
reylek@reddit (OP)
This proves that Adata doesn't know how to make SSD.
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Same issue here, but it started this month the last two months, not sure. How long been you struggling with this? Maybe is a Windows update issue? I don't know. But it's weird and I am getting sick of this.
I have a B550m, R7 5700X & RTX 4070.
reylek@reddit (OP)
I noticed this right after assembling a new computer. I assembled it two weeks ago.
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Do you think you could try installing Windows 11 23H2? Or well, at least not use the last version of the system. I found some information about Win 11 24H2 being the problem, but I am not sure, I cannot perform rollback right now. But, if your pc is new, maybe is easier for you?
reylek@reddit (OP)
I have already given up, because nothing helps. Most likely, this is a hardware problem. Therefore, I handed the SSD to the service center to confirm the problem and return the money. Now we must hope that they will be able to catch the error, which has a random nature of occurrence.
I have not tried to install Windows 11 23H2, but most likely the problem is not this (disabling HMB (host memory buffer) would solve the problem).
I will write the diagnostic results of the store's service center here. They check for 10 days.
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Apparently, I fixed it, I uninstalled the last 24H2 acumulative update, I don't have the code now, but yeah, I've been playing without the issue since that. (6 hours since I did it aprox).
reylek@reddit (OP)
О.о write if the problem returns
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Nothing, I think is worth the try. So, try to uninstall the last Windows update. Or try with 23H2.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
So is it still cool even now? Do i just need to rollback the windows? Although i got raid1 not 2
RaulMARK17_@reddit
The number depends of the physical port you're using. It doesn't matter, I already tried switching the SSD in my two M2 slots and got the same issue. And, the update, I am not really sure, I never went back to 23H2 because I have many files. I sent the disk to warranty, and got a new one, a predator ssd with DRAM. When I get news from support, I will tell you.
Electrical_Art5116@reddit
HERMANO Y QUE TE DIJO EL SOPORTE TECNICO SOBRE EL DISCO PORQUE PESE A QUE METAS ESE DISCO A DIFERENTES COMPUTADORAS DEBE SER EL MISMO ERROR, ESPERO NO SE TRATA DE UN PROBLEMA DE ENERGIA CON LAS BASURAS DE DRIVERS O ALGO WINDOWS 11 PORQUE DE NADA VALDRIA LA PENA CAMBIAR DE DISCO.

Time-Ad6576@reddit
Oh you warranty the disk? Does this mean the problem return even after you uninstall the 24h2 windows update? I just rollback my windows to 23h2 hopefully this solve the problem. If not i'll also warranty the disk XD
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Yeah, it still happened. But, I am not sure why. I mean, I contactes Microsoft, so they make me reinstall and also update the OS. According to the guy that helped me, the update I unistalled wouldn't be installed again, but, I am not sure about that, if it really stayed uninstalled or not.
I mean, I didn't have the time to really confirm if it was a coincidence/luck that I didn't have the issue or if it really dissapeared. So, when you have time, tell me about your results, if it works or not. Because right now I'm a bit concerned about the warranty, if they don't find the same issue, they will return the disk and charge me 10 bucks. Which is something that I could save if I just haven't sent the disk.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
So far i dont get any stornmve raidport1 event in the event viewer anymore. I played for approximately 4 hoursish. There is 1 time when my game is not responding but i dont think this one is related to the raidport event. Ill write again if the problem appear again but hopefully its gone for good.
Btw did you contact microsoft after it happened again or before? Cause you said you reinstall and update os. And maybe thats why it come back?
RaulMARK17_@reddit
No, I didn't. I was fed up with testing. So I just bought another one and sent this to warranty xD. Maybe it is Microsoft fault, I wouldn't be surprised. But I cannot downgrade my os without having some issues and I don't want it xD. So, let's see. And good luck, I hope it is gone for you.
reylek@reddit (OP)
If it was Microsoft's fault, I think all SSDs would have it. And everyone would definitely know about the problem.
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Yeah, I guess you're right. But the truth is, there's a lot of post related
Time-Ad6576@reddit
Ok nvm even with 23h2 i still got the stornvme error. Although very rarely
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Well, I guess is better to see it less, but then, I am not sure if is software or hardware problem. This is Microsoft's fault, because thanks to the problems generated by Windows 11 is difficult to know which thing is failing.
reylek@reddit (OP)
Diagnostics at the service center found no errors. This is not surprising, because they simply ran it through CrystalDiskInfo and checked it with a load for 2 hours (and I waited 12 days for this). So I bought a new SSD from Samsung for Windows, and I use this SSD as an additional disk (a couple of games are installed on it). So far, no errors for 4 days.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
I come here after encountering the same problem. Did the problem come back after you change ssd? And how's the ssd performing now that you use it for additional storage any side effect?
reylek@reddit (OP)
After purchasing a new SSD, the problem did not appear. The ADATA SSD is an additional one and is filled to 11%, there are no problems, no side effects either.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
Do you think the problem exist because the os is in the disk just the disk is faulty? Cause i think im gonna buy another ssd too XD but i dont know whether just buy one enough to store my os or also my games
reylek@reddit (OP)
I'll write here too, for other users:
The ADATA Legend 900 SSD installed as an additional disk when filled to >500 GB also does not give errors 129 for 4 days. It seems that the error is reproduced only if there is an OS on it.
Time-Ad6576@reddit
Ok good to know i guess i can just buy one enough for os and stuff
RaulMARK17_@reddit
But, yes, if you can change the SSD or something maybe is something good too. But I think is something related to the model not your disk specifically.
reylek@reddit (OP)
Perhaps your update installation coincided with another event - filling the disk to a certain level, from which this error began to appear.
My personal observation: the issue starts occurring when the SSD reaches a certain level of disk fill.
After reinstalling Windows, there were no errors on the first day. On the second day, the error appeared again after some of the SSD space had been used.
Also, in a post describing a similar issue with the Kingston SNV2S2000G 2TB, it's mentioned that formatting temporarily fixes the problem — most likely until the same level of disk fill is reached again.
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Sorry, didn't see before. But, yeah, that's recently, not sure if is a hardware specific issue or is windows fault.
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Possible fix:
Open Registry Editor: Press
Win + R, typeregedit, and press Enter.HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorPortHmbAllocationPolicy.New > DWORD (32-bit) Value, and name itHmbAllocationPolicy.HmbAllocationPolicyand set its "Value data" to0(zero). This will disable HMB entirely.2for 64MB, but0(off) is more likely to resolve the stability issue if HMB is the root cause, though it might incur a slight performance penalty (which is usually negligible for most users compared to freezes).reylek@reddit (OP)
I tried this, it didn't help...
RaulMARK17_@reddit
Yeah, it just got freeze again. But you didn't answer my question, when this started to happen?
reylek@reddit (OP)
I see you've already found the answer below) It doesn't help with 0 either.

Adata 900 Legend as D: disk, just for games, no windows. Every day randomly a few seconds freeze, sometimes 2-3 times in a row, event viewer shows stornvme Event id: 129 "Reset to device, \Device\RaidPort3, was issued." can be in middle of game, watching video or just sitting idle. Can't find other errors.

So, I sent mine to support, the ran the same tests, I bought mine at Cyberpuerta.
They said everything is ok, but it is not. So, never buy this from ADATA, or from Cyberpuerta, their support sucks. They made me pay for the return shipment when the disk is not working fine. So, no thank you.
NO adata, NO cyberpuerta
DonJohnDivine@reddit
Hi! I'm not a native speaker, so I apologize for my English.
I'm with you guys. Same SSD: ADATA Legend 900 2TB, same issues. I’ve tried everything, from power saving settings to formatting. Now I’ll share my latest observations. On 20.08, I formatted the drive and installed Windows 23H2. For exactly a week, there were no issues. On 27.08, the first error, Device\RaidPort1, appeared. I rushed to ChatGPT with this info, and it suggested checking the "Disk Optimization." The disk optimization happened exactly one week after I did a clean Windows install. I suspect that turning off "Disk Optimization" right after reinstalling Windows might help. However, after reading posts here, I realized I hadn’t downloaded much in the past week, but on 26.08, I downloaded several large files, and now I’m unsure about my recommendation.
Question for those who have installed this drive as a secondary one (without Windows): If you run games from it, will there be any stuttering?
reylek@reddit (OP)
This is an interesting theory. I have been running games on it for a long time now, there are no lags or problems
InitialSpecialist234@reddit
I think this is happening with my adata 900 1Tb, those these have a solution? or is a faulty unit? Thanks
reylek@reddit (OP)
Check for error 129 in windows event viewer. If it is, then it is most likely a similar problem. The solution today is to install windows on another ssd. SSD ADATA can be used as an additional disk, there will be no problems.
__Negan___@reddit
Holy shit, so it isn't only me having issues with this specific SSD.
It's been having for the past month or so and I was so confused why that was the case.
I wish I could do it your way too of having it as an additional SSD but my motherboard only has one m.2 slot so I'll probably just have to return it and get a new one, wish there was another way to fix it.
reylek@reddit (OP)
Each of us needs to send a report to Adata, reviews in stores, so that Adata employees know the problem. In general, they have lost their reputation for me.
LeWeedo@reddit
holly crap, I have been looking for the same issue for weeks - after reading this i decided to file a return request for my drive (adata 900) and order samsung drive. Thank you.
123vasek@reddit
Have you sought official support for adata?
reylek@reddit (OP)
Yes, they answered: "About your inquiry that we recommend contacting with your dealer or the shop where you bought it for swap/repair service. And if there is no after-sale service in your country, you need send it to Taiwan for repair service."
Cer_Visia@reddit
This looks like a hardware problem (so software/configuration changes will not help).
If the same SSD has these problems in different slots, then it's likely to be the SSD itself.
