How many times?

Of course, I am watching it again tonight and it occurred to me…on which watching did you realize that this movie is a celluloid masterpiece?
It might have been the third time for me. Liked it the first time, loved it the second, then the third time (or so) I just melted into the movie. Everything from Bridges’ stunning dialogues to Walter’s phenomenal performance, Brandt, Huddleston, etc etc.
What in God’s holy name am I blathering about??

I think the second time, when your brain isn’t trying to follow a plot. That was when I started noticing that the Dude often repeated terms he had just heard someone else use, for example.

I wrote a paper on it for a Film as Art class in college. (Chuckling like Brandt) oh, you never went to college.

The more you watch it, the more you get it, and the better it gets.

Has it ever occurred to you, that uh, instead of uh, you know running around, uh uh, blaming me, given the nature of all this new shit, you know it, it it, this could be a uh, a lot more uh, uh, uh, uh, complex, I mean it's not just, it might not be, just such a simple, uh--you know?

Jeff Bridges is a good actor, and thorough.

It was the first time I discussed it with someone else that had also seen it; we spent the next hour reciting our favorite scenes.
