Movie you'd love to see in theaters once again?

For me it would be 8 mile. Given the trends seems like i gotta wait another ten years before they start playing movies from the early 2000s. I WILL WAIT.

Independence day was awesome in the theaters. Everyone stood up and cheered at the end.
i_did_nothing_@reddit
None, I have a much nicer screen at home and get to choose who watches with me.

Lord of the Rings
I would love to see the extended editions in theatre.

Lucky for me I live by a theatre that takes pride in playing cult classics and random Kung fu at midnight. Got to see the (og) shining, matrix, usual suspects, pulp fiction, and a scanner darkly all within the last few years. And you can buy and drink beer in house! Im certain there's more movies im forgetting but they do a great job!

Jurassic Park. I saw it in theatre when I was 12 and it blew my mind. The sequels couldn't compare to the original, which was pretty amazing for the time and it holds up even today.
sleeperninja@reddit
Same exact thought. Saw it when I was 16, and instantly regressed into a 5 year old.
Lord_Darlantan@reddit
This would be my pick too. I was 13 and it was the greatest thing!

I saw the first when I was 10 and the same. Absolutely Blew me away. Took my 12 and 6 year old sons to watch rebirth the other day and fell asleep 30 minutes in.

I worked for a movie theater in Idaho back in the summer. It came out. Spielberg has a home in Idaho, so we are one of the first places to screen it. We got to watch it before the general public, and we had to agree to keep it silent because of all the special effects. I’ll never forget how awesome that was!
drinkslinger1974@reddit
Independence Day. I rewatched it about a month ago, still holds up pretty well, and I remember the glowing faces of the crowd exiting the theater as we were walking in.

Freddy vs. Jason. Not a great film by any means and I remember being disappointed when I first saw it (mostly because of the corny scenes) but the theater going experience was something else. A film fans had been looking forward to for years, place was PACKED, tons of people dressed up in costumes, applauding and all having a great time together. Don't think I'm ever going to experience something like that in a theater again. Was a great time to be a young person going to the movie theater before the decline.

This happened with me when I stood in line for the phantom menace. The line was a mile long, people were dressed up, stayed up all night, people brought guitars and coolers and projectors, and everyone there was like minded and excited to see the movie. I remember standing in line for quite a few movies that were events. Full page ad in the New York Times, lots of summer hype, etc. I don’t think anything will replace that type of movie going experience.

I watched this movie in theater completely blind. I do nt know how but I had no clue about the movie and was absolutely blown away. Will probably never experience that again.

We won't. It was lightening in a bottle.

same experience
my friends were all stoked for it and i went with, not having seen a trailer or knowing anything about it
phenomenal experience

The most impactful movie I've ever seen in my life. There will not be another experience like it.

The Sphere in Vegas showed it. Looked amazing.
BlueSnaggleTooth359@reddit
It was re-released in 2023.

I never saw it in theaters. It was the first dvd I owned though. So yes, I’d love that.

Yes! Nearly all of Nolan’s films are so much better in theaters. I got the chance to see Interstellar in IMAX and it was mind blowing even though I had seen it several times before. I would love to see Inception… living in Indianapolis has made me spoiled because we have one of the few true IMAX theaters that can play 70 mm film and has the original huge screen

It’s the 50th anniversary of Jaws, I’m hoping to see a revival of that in theaters. Other than that, Jurassic Park.

Ninja turtles 1990 for my 7th birthday with all my friends and then off to pizza hut for lunch. Then we went home and got all the ninja turtles, with Bepop and Rocksteady, and the ninja turtle van.
The best day ever.

I got to see Jaws at a local film festival a few years ago. The most surprisingly nostalgic part was that they were only using front of house sound, no Dolby surround. It really brought me back.

This, with all the toast and toilet paper and water guns. There used to be a theatre in town that let the audience go wild with it, and with events and costumes before hand. It's just not the same sitting down to watch and being told to behave.
BoltsGuy02@reddit
We have them In Minneapolis, it’s so much fun. I can’t wait to go again.

At a local opera house they show movies on weekends to raise money for renovating the building and for upkeep to at least prevent further deteriorating. A couple weeks ago they had Twister. The cows flying by were glorious! Would love to see it in a nicer space.

I confused 8 Mile with Green Mile. And for a second I thought, that may be my choice. My girlfriend and I walked out because she had a brand new telescope and there was a full moon that night. I'm not sure why we went to the movies in the first place. But tickets were five bucks and we had cash to burn.

i bet it would be great on the big screen (and intense but also great)
