Kind of hypocritical to interfere in other nation's progress and preaching about non-interference at the same time. Meanwhile East Timor genuinely needed more opportunities in geopolitics, as their growth so far is limited to extractive activities such as oil.
What are they afraid of from East Timor ? it's on the other side of SEA and magnitudes smaller than Myanmar, silly insecure generals are afraid of strongly worded letters ?

They think they can play high level diplomatic poker and turn the exiled government into pariahs. 😅
Honestly this whole debacle has been a resounding embarrassment for everyone.
The elected government for not staying on the ball and cleaning house when they could, the Junta for looking like bloodthirsty clowns, the rebels for routinely infighting and turning into narco cartels.

Seems like bullying more than anything, East Timor entry into ASEAN has nothing to do with Myanmar.

Oh it's absolutely bullying. Like Hungary randomly deciding to take potshots at Romania (I'm not sure if they're doing that but it's Orban's little tirefire so I'm reasonably sure it's a5 least been considered) but moreover it's because East Timor is still in diplomatic contact with the exiled government the Junta displaced.
Which regardless of morality is the kind of move you only pull when there's some actual authority behind it or else you'll just look mentally deficient and exceptionally insecure.
People have engaged with Juntas diplomatically in the past but you need to come across as at least a little bit serious and they're failing at not looking like they're throwing an impotent tantrum.

Many such cases.
