ULPT Advice needed - Stolen Possesions

Hey all,
I’ve unfortunately had thousands of pounds worth of items stolen from my suitcase. I flew from Manchester to Austin and took 10 days to receive my bag - when I got it someone has gone through and taken out clothing, trainers, aftershave and left me with underwear and a few t shirts.
My airline has confirmed that when they were in possession of the suitcase it was locked away and no one could get to it. The delivery driver who “attempted to deliver my suitcase” kept hold of it for a few days and then returned it to the airport - with a note to the airline saying that he had rang me and I answered the phone and said “fuck off and don’t ring this number again” - a conversation which never occurred! This conversation never happened but I did have a missed call from him so I know he had the right number.
Unfortunately for him, when I ring his number it goes straight to voicemail - a personally recorded voicemail stating his name. I’ve done a bit of digging and found that he owns the third party delivery company and he is the only employee there, the address of the company is his home address! Police have advised me not to go to his address “because this is Texas” and very different to the UK.
What do you guys think I should do? Ultimately, I can persist and get a claim from my airline but can’t prove purchase of all the goods stolen (some I purchased years ago or were gifted) and I’d rather have the items back as some of them are rare clothing that can no longer be purchased or have gone up in value ( or gifted holding sentimental value ).
Let me know your thoughts please and how you think I should handle this - I just want my stuff back but ideally don’t want to get shot in the face 🙏

It won’t help you get anything back, but have you considered freezing some piss into discs and leaving them to melt on his car and under his door/ windows?

You might try a Small Claims Court in the area of Texas where this guy lives.

First question: do you have travel insurance? This is the kind of thing it usually covers. Check with your credit card to see if it's one of the perks they offer.
I think you're gonna have to accept that your items are gone. Maybe talk to the police about putting in a report solely that if someone tries to pawn anything, it might get flagged, but otherwise, I'm sorry to say but the odds are good that you're not getting anything back.
It really sucks this happened to you. As Schapelle Corby would say, in future, make sure to lock your luggage. Even a shitty, tiny £6 padlock can be enough to deter most thieves.
