Outlook outage Globally
Posted by AppuniAkhil@reddit | sysadmin | View on Reddit | 13 comments
Users may be unable to access their mailboxes using any connection method.
More info
Impacted connection methods include, but may not be limited to:
- Representational State Transfer (REST) API
- Outlook on the web
- Exchange ActiveSync (EAS)
- Messaging API (MAPI)
Scope of impact
Users attempting to access their Exchange Online mailbox using any connection methods may be impacted.
Preliminary root cause
A recent service update to an authentication component is unintentionally preventing access for a subset of users, resulting in intermittent service unavailability.

Globally, you say?
Weird, absolutely nobody with an on-premise setup is affected....

I don't know if this is affected by this, but we're having issues with our on-prem. 2019 For some users outlook will take forever to open, "profile loading..". Current Updates installed.

stupid shit like this is why I don't regret keeping our exchange cluster on-prem.

Outlook-com, but for some reason my M365 email started to fail searches a few 5 or so hours ago
DorkCharming@reddit
You had working searches?

For future reference that's the consumer status page, the business/enterprise status page is only available from the M365 Admin area (or through APIs if your like me and feed the data to an internal tool)

Outlook.com, not Outlook. Big difference.

I don't think it impacted everyone equally. We had a few users in our org unable to access webmail but not everyone. But it was only a few in an organization with tens of thousands.

I lost access to Outlook, Outlook classic send/receive and no access to outlook web either.
Others in my org all continued to work fine.

Been monitoring all morning. This apparently started last night. We have a handful of mailboxes impacted at our org. Most of the mailboxes we use for nonprod testing were spared but some user and prod app mailboxes are b0rked. If only it was the other way around.......
