ULPT: When it’s time to break up with your girlfriend, do NOT have the talk in the same room where completed Lego sets are kept.

My buddy just learned this the hard way.

If you want to break it off with a girl, do what a Friend of mine did: he broke up with a girl at a jewelry store. Took her out, measured her for a ring, let her pick one out, then told her he would have bought it if she hadn't cheated on him.
rabid_cheese_enjoyer@reddit
that's absolutely fucked
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
Well she did cheat on him
MakeoutPoint@reddit
"Is that all?"
- rabid_cheese_enjoyer, probably
Explosev@reddit
diabolical*
lan60000@reddit
I feel like this is after you made sure she doesn't have any keys back into your house
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
My idea is to break up at a fancy restaurant on a busy night. Either she keeps her cool or causes a scene, at which point the other patrons get dinner and a show
commandrix@reddit
Or any room where there's a lot of breakables, using the same logic. In fact, if you think for an instant that your partner might start breaking stuff whenever your partner gets bad news, you should consider not doing it in private.
MapleLeafNomad216@reddit
More of a LPT folks, nothing Unethical here!
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
LPT immediately removed my post so I thought it could work here
arthurdentstowels@reddit
This subreddit would make it more like ULPT: Make sure you break up with someone in the room with all of your Lego models, but record it so you can sue them for damages
hellishafterworld@reddit
Assuming that you have favorable odds for getting awarded civil damages for someone — albeit violently and spitefully — disassembling your LEGO sets, doesn’t that set a precedent that you could sue someone if they screwed up a jigsaw puzzle, or knocked over all half-complete row of dominoes? Or would you have to forensically prove that the pieces had been damaged to the tune of a specific monetary value?
Voyager5555@reddit
Even though it clearly doesn't fit?
sandy_catheter@reddit
It does if you spit on it and push a little harder
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
I’m not taking the post down
charmingwit@reddit
ULPT: breakup with a cheating gf in a room full of legos
daisymaisy505@reddit
ULPT: breakup with a girl in HER Lego room.
Ninakittycat@reddit
Have piss disks ready
danman8075@reddit
Better yet dump her in a room full of sets made of piss bricks and when she goes to destroy them it gets all over her…
Fantastic_Estate_303@reddit
Unless you're breaking up with your girlfriend in your buddy's room of completed Legos....
LandOfTheLostKek@reddit
Is that the same dude who's MIL smashed his milinium falcon or w.e.
marcus_aurelius_53@reddit
Wrong sub. Maybe r/lego ?
HBThorburn@reddit
On the flip side, if your boyfriend/girlfriend has a lego room, make sure when you're breaking up with them, corner them in their lego room.
og_speedfreeq@reddit
This is kind of where it took me. If I find myself in my own "Lego room" and I actually have a girlfriend?
Maybe rethink breaking up in the first place? I mean dude- you're a grown man with a Lego room.
ElCamo267@reddit
Grown man here with a girlfriend and a Lego room, life's pretty sweet.
Nancy_ew@reddit
Grown woman here with two lego rooms! Everything is awesome!
Thefriendlyfaceplant@reddit
Yeah but do you have a girlfriend?
Nancy_ew@reddit
I can always build one xD
booch@reddit
My wife is currently hunting for a good shelving unit to show off our Lego sets. Voltron and Optimus Prime are pretty easy to accommodate, but the AT-AT is a beast.
pollut3r@reddit
Y’all read “room with completed LEGO sets” and immediately switched it to “LEGO room” to try and make some dude you don’t know sound like a loser.
Dick_Lazer@reddit
I mean, it's still a grown man playing with LEGOs, but I'm not gonna kink shame.
pollut3r@reddit
LEGO has no age limit. I mean they literally have sets specifically labeled 18+.
But please tell me more about what it means to be a grown man, guy who calls himself "Dick Lazer"
Dick_Lazer@reddit
Wow, really struck a nerve there, huh?
pollut3r@reddit
Why is that always the default response when someone has nothing of substance to say?
Dick_Lazer@reddit
Something of substance like what, making fun of somebody's name?
pollut3r@reddit
I highlighted the irony of your name. Seems like that didn't sit well with you.
Or, in other words; Wow, really struck a nerve there, huh?
Dick_Lazer@reddit
If that helps you sleep at night, then sure lil guy.
pollut3r@reddit
Another default response. Yawn.
This thread is going nowhere, you're clearly here just to put other people down for having a hobby that you don't think is "manly" enough. That's peak insecurity, but you'll never reflect on that so I won't waste any more time.
Dick_Lazer@reddit
I dunno man, this seems like some peak projection. If you're so secure about playing with your LEGOs, why do you seem so butthurt over a little lighthearted comment?
CornSnakeGirlie@reddit
I think adults with adult money and adult responsibilities are allowed to have "childish" interests. In fact, it'd be a red flag if they didnt allow themselves fun and whimsy.
RobynTheCookieJar@reddit
Id date a guy with a Lego room, what's wrong with Legos?
redgeck0@reddit
Some people in relationships hate for their partners to have interests or find happiness outside of them
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
They could throw a Lego set at me!
303rd@reddit
LPT: Do not have whole room for completed Lego sets
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
You gotta keep them somewhere
303rd@reddit
Seek hobbies that do not involve consumption
eric_ts@reddit
Doc Holliday has entered the chat.
Savet@reddit
Like drinking!
NullGWard@reddit
It’s hard enough to assemble a Lego Millennium Falcon. However, having those pieces smashed on the floor and mixed in with pieces from multiple other Lego sculptures would be an almost death penalty offense.
303rd@reddit
I remember being very protective of my toys when I was 11 as well
mongoloid_snailchild@reddit
You cannot break LEGOs, you can only make more LEGOs.
Jaderosegrey@reddit
It's really, really sad that the first word is "when" and not "if".
raylan_givens6@reddit
The ball pit at a chuck E cheese seems like the ideal place
atom644@reddit
I’ll never understand how people think it’s ok to destroy property or even physically harm their ex-significant other.
Even if they did cheat on you, it give you no right to damage anything.
Cheating: not a crime
Assault/damaging property: a crime
---why-so-serious---@reddit
It’s a little more complicated than weighing statutes—historically, biblically, morally, etc. That said, the Iliad would have been much less boring had they focused on the moral aspects of property damage.
chatminteresse@reddit
I am going to find a way to work this into a conversation some day
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
On a side note, cheating should be a crime
Apprehensive_Hat8986@reddit
One ex accuse me of cheating until we broke up. Another said they wished I had cheated when we were breaking up. I didn't bother asking why, I was so beat down by them I just prefered to die alone rather than live another day with them. I don't care if my partner finds fulfilment for something I can't provide. Likewise, it's bullshit to refuse your partner, but also demand monogamy.
But I understand a lot of folks get more jealous than I do.
SeanFrank@reddit
Cheating on your Wife/Husband is actually a Felony in Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Michigan. It's a Misdemeanor in 13 other US states.
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
Really? Man I got downvoted to hell on a previous post when I suggested it should be illegal
SeanFrank@reddit
Yea, Reddit can be harsh ~~sometimes~~ often.
Oh_its_that_asshole@reddit
Where's the unethical part?
Unethical would be something like “Break up by telling her you’ve been in therapy for months, to figure out how to stop resenting her. Then thank her for helping you realising that you deserve better."
dank_imagemacro@reddit
I will chime in on what I think the true ULPT version of this would be.
ULPT: Break up with your girlfriend in a room full of fully glued lego sets. If she tries to break them she might hurt herself on them and have only herself to blame.
thesheba@reddit
I'm glad he got out. That's a very violent reaction to break things, even if the Lego bricks themselves were not broken, just their configuration.
bigdave41@reddit
ULPT : try not to date psychos who destroy your property when they're upset with you. How does anyone think this is normal?
zamfire@reddit
What if destroying Lego sets was why they broke up?
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
My buddy didn’t foresee this happening
doopies1986@reddit
My buddy was a huge LEGO guy and kind of went through the same thing. I rolled a live grenade into the room to get both of them and the LEGO sets were completely fucked after
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
Wait what lol
tilldeathdoiparty@reddit
Not a ULPT
The a tip for those who have both lego sets on display and a girlfriend they want to dump.
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
It’s unethical that he values the Lego sets more than her I guess
heartvolunteer99@reddit
My hubby has given me t-shirts for the last 6 gift giving holidays (bday, anniversary, Xmas, v-day, Mother’s Day) and I told him if he gifts me one more frigging shirt - that’s what I’ll do to his Lego sets as well. Yes, I had wish lists. I did NOT ask for any of those shirts. Yes i told him to stop giving me shirts after the second time. I think it’s justified.
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
I would get you a Lego shirt
rabid_cheese_enjoyer@reddit
Lego sets sell pretty well if you need to get yourself a nice present
Mr24601@reddit
Frankly no one would convict for murder if he gets you a 7th shirt
Ill-Course8623@reddit
For me it was my oldest books through my house's front plate glass window. I get your buddy.
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
Damn lol
Warm-Iron-1222@reddit
I can picture this. "You care more about your fucking toys than our relationship Dave, these fucking toys you're a grown man!" Starts smashing Lego sets, legos everywhere
Apartment-Drummer@reddit (OP)
My buddies now ex was able to get his Millennium Falcon and X-Wing. Luckily he was able to stop her before she descended on Hogwarts Castle.
