What’s a good first car to get?

(5’4, 23yo) Got my learners a few weeks ago and I don’t want to use my parents’ car to learn and practice because I’m not that confident driving a 7 seater suv yet. What’s a good used car to get that is reliable, low on maintenance and also sporty looking? My budget is under $10k CAD. Thank you.

What do you mean by sporty looking? Are you looking for a coupé? If so the honda accord or civic coupés and Toyota Celicas are great options. What do you actually intend on using the car for in the long term?
Unless you live in the far north the most important thing is going to be making sure the car doesn't have rust. Either pay a mechanic to do a pre purchase inspection or get under the car with a flashlight ensuring that the frame isn't rusty.
