Where's The Slushbox Love?

Seems everyone in reddit wants to pretend they're in Fast and Furious 42 The Fartening when driving. Revving and shifting like they're trying to get their car to climax. When the simple fact is that a modern torque converter automatic is a far superior transmission for the vast majority of vehicles and drivers and what most of us are and should be driving.
Yet except for that one guy, we all know who that guy is, there's no love for the esteemed slushbox, why?

Here's something to ruffle feathers: I love the CVT in my Subaru Impreza.
It's a completely different way to drive, just put the feet down at one spot and know that the ecu would choose the most efficient gearing for it. No need to fight the car on which gear to use, just put your feet further if I want to go fast or let go if I want to go slow.
To be clear, I love stick shift, rev match, heel toe and all that. But there's something about knowing that the computer takes care of it all for me

I drove a cvt subie and felt it was perfectly adequate for what the car needed to do. Kinda liked it.

I actually like the CVT subaru uses in the Ascent and turbo Outback.
Had it in my 3.6r and it was smooth as silk.

Idk what you're talking about, everyone always raves about the 8 speed ZFs.

The 3-speed Borg-Warner in my Jaguar is very slushy!

the automatic shifter doesn't feel as good to shove up your ass as the manual one ;)

How does it feel? Im asking for a friend.

Only one true way to find out buddy

Try BMW's auto shifters from the mid to late '00s. Great contour.
Then the short DCT shifters are pretty nice if you're on the smaller side.

Everyone loved the 46REs, nobody ever had any problems ever
Like half or more automatic, torque converter transmissions have bad to tragic reputations.
It's harder to find stinkers of manual gearboxes unless you are adding power (This millennia, especially).

I'd prefer a manual, but the slushbox in my GS400 does just fine. Obviously slower than modern autos & only 5 gears, but it's quiet, smooth, & gets the job done. I'm sure this car would be noticeably quicker with a modern auto
rudbri93@reddit
Eh i like em both.

Manual transmissions are just fun to drive. They can also offer control that automatic transmissions cannot, although many may not use that control. But at the end of the day, it is all about the fun factor and a different driving experience.
Wouldn't the world be boring if everyone wanted and bought the same car? So, do your thing and worry less about others doing their things, IMHO.
