I’ve asked my doctor but they want to charge me £35 for it and I don’t have the money for that right now I’m really stressed about this,I don’t know many people and I don’t know anyone who would meet the requirements Can anyone help me? What am I supposed to do in this situation 😭

I went to the local cathedral, talked to one of the vicars, decaons--y'know, guy in a dog collar-- for about 20 minutesa and he wrote me a lovely letter, no charge.
I only stopped in on the way to see my local bank cos it was closer, so you could try that too.

Depends if it's a friendly lady vicar with a colourful jumper or an incredibly horrible and twisted person who is still unaccountably a vicar.

What ID?
References for things like passports are seldom checked, as long as you put down someone with a vaguely trustworthy job it won't matter. If they do query it, pay the £35 to your GP.

They can’t pay the £35 because they can’t afford it as stated in the post

Honestly though, the citizen ID isn't that much cheaper. It might be cheaper for OP to just pay only £35 for the provisional license instead of the fee for citizen ID on top of whatever people want to charge him to get a letter.

It’s a citizen card (I don’t drink or go out drinking so I’m not bothered about pubs not accepting them or anything because I don’t buy alcohol) I don’t have £35 right now,if I did I wouldn’t be bothered about paying it

I just want to add I've used my citizen card in a relatively big city where I live and even more up north and down south where it's never been not accepted. I've been turned away once by a chain- Revs De Cuba as they don't accept citizen cards but that's it. I've gone to big clubs, small clubs. It is official. I know you say you don't drink so I used my citizen card as proof of identity when accepting my job offers and as proof of identity for DBS. I use my citizen card in the supermarket for energy drinks and paracetamol. A lot of clubs scan all ID's now, which is easiest with a citizen card as it has an app. It's also pretty easy with the hologram- if anywhere says we accept ID with a pass hologram that is/includes Citizen Cards. Enjoy your ID.

i once got one, was told they don't accept it in a shop... where they had the little display stand for the leaflets on the counter.
Old-Pangolin228@reddit
Never not been accepted in a shop. It's normally staff rather than the store themselves sadly
phatboi23@reddit
tried it in a few places most had the little display stand.
nobody took it round where i live.
after a week it got shredded as it was pointless.

I'm sorry it didn't work for you but it's always worked for me

Just letting you know that practically nowhere will accept a citizen card as ID even if it says online that they do and that it is a valid ID. Businesses can refuse any ID that they like and they don’t like citizen cards for proof of age

Citizen Card are pretty relaxed about who can be your referee. The easiest is usually director of a limited company - this would include anyone you know who owns their own business e.g. shop owner, hairdresser/barber, pub landlord etc.
But as the other commenter says, please do check first whether a citizen card will be accepted as ID for whatever you want to do next week.

I don't know what the context is for you needing ID, but I would recommend getting a passport or a provisional driving licence ID (even if you don't plan to ever drive). Citizen cards aren't accepted everywhere because it's not "official". Without knowing the full context here, it's hard to help.

If you're employed then ask HR, they fall under the umbrella of the qualified professions.

I am thinking this is for a benefits transfer from ESA to Universal Credit?
How about you explain to your doctor what you need it for? That you can pay them within say 5 weeks but you will forfeit your benefits and be at risk of starvation without the letter?
