ULPT Request: How to stop a dangerous cement truck driver?
Posted by Personal_Curve8574@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 36 comments
I had this cement truck nearly flatten me, turning way too sharp on a left while going 20 over the limit. The next day the same truck hard-swerved into my lane while coming against me in traffic and I had to swerve to avoid collision.
Apparently my wife had encountered the same company truck, running a red and having a wall of cars honk and nearly hit it.
I went to the company’s Google page and every review is about this driver. Some of them ten years old, saying the dude almost hit their dog, flew down streets at insane speeds and one saying he drove straight at a child to hit him with a puddle lol.
I have a short daily commute and I see this fucker at least four days a week. I got myself a nice dash cam in case he does something else egregious, but what could be done in the mean time? Company doesn’t care about reputation apparently and there’s bigger fish to fry crime-wise around here so the cops would be a bust unless he causes some damage. Thanks!

Throw some paint or permanent dye into the mixer to give a nice surprise on his next pour.
Follow him to the job site, wait till they're done pouring, create a fullsize nutsack with micro penis to dunk in and sign with his name (even better if he has a nickname you can use, but bonus points if you can get everyone to start calling him a nickname - Duncan Deez, Pindick Pete, you get the idea!)

Powdered concrete dye. How to get it into the truck? The way I would do it would be in a sack dropped from an overpass. It would take good timing and good luck.

A bag of sugar will ruin a truck load of cement
barra_giano@reddit
A bag of sugar will just slow the setting process, gonna need a shitload of it to actually ruin it (prob 12+ kgs for a 2ton Load (Apparently Its about 0.6% to stop the hardening process and actually ruin it).

Good math. this is not your first concrete sabotage.

Damn this is really good, it seems so obvious in retrospect

State department of transportation over sees the licensing on the truck.. Gather video evidence and get screen shots and file an official complaint. File a complaint against their business license. Next time you see him do a dipshit move call 911 and report a dangerous, suspected drunk. Be calm, non editorial and give all hia information. Offer to sign a complaint. **I know these arent unethical, but should be effective. And this situation is really about safety.
Personal_Curve8574@reddit (OP)
Yeah this is definitely the move, I just couldn’t figure out what entities to report it to. It’s a very high-crime area so I’m always hesitant to bug the cops, who do keep busy, but an official complaint would be good for sure. Thank you!

Report to FMCSA also.

Do not mess with the brakes. This driver is already doing their best to kill someone. No need to help them.
TheThrillerExpo@reddit
This is ULPT- if he hurts someone he’ll likely never drive again especially after DOT finds the caged brakes. Problem solved.
vandon@reddit
The U is unethical, not unlawful. You would be the one responsible for the death, not the driver.
TheThrillerExpo@reddit
“perhaps at the expense of others and/or questionable legality” quoted directly from the description. Don’t come to ULPT and get mad when someone posts an ULPT.
teh_maxh@reddit
Unethically? A large rifle round to the engine.
redthump@reddit
That is so excessive. The 12 gauge slug would work just fine for a fraction of the cost.
HoustonBOFH@reddit
So many people forgetting the U...
Get hit. Borrow a car from a fried that is total crap and barely runs, or they are totally upside down in, and let him hit you. All the evidence online will be handy when you sue him and the company for real damages, soft tissue injuries, mental anguish, negligence... Should be a good payday. Unless you die. Then your family gets a HUGE payday.
RealUlli@reddit
Don't forget a set of good dashcams!

Tire plug puller, pull the plugs out of a set of tire and then reinstall them, you cant have a regular tow truck come get a tanker truck. Start hitting the wallett of the company.
DarkPangolin@reddit
Go buy a jar or three of molasses. Introduce it to his gas tanks.
Alternatively, cut a slit in a ping pong ball and then push it into his gas tank. When the gas gets reasonably low, the ping pong ball will be pulled into the fuel pump inlet by suction, blocking it and cutting fuel flow. Once the engine has died and the fuel pump shuts off, suction will release and the ping pong ball will float back to the surface. The engine will start back up just fine, but the whole process will start again, and diagnosing it as an intermittent problem will be a pain in the ass.

Report as a drunk / impaired driver.

Driver could lose his CDL license.

Oh no!

Anyways

Report it by posting the video clips of erratic driving to the social Medio of choice for your town, tag all the town council etc and let them know you've called in numerous complaints of this driver, and see the complaints go back years, and want something done.
Soft_Refuse_4422@reddit
Tag local news
Cuneus-Maximus@reddit
And tag the company too, if they get to much bad press they will start to pay attention and care.
weedlewaddlewoop@reddit
True, erratic behavior is in line with that especially if you have dash cam video to back that up.
DD_Wabeno@reddit
You are not going to get away with sabotaging the truck or the concrete. Plus you add the risk of getting yourself or someone else killed if you try.
So, in keeping with unethical practices, just get in front of him and slow down little by little. DO NOT BRAKE CHECK!!! Brake checking is dangerous and could get you killed. If he tries to pass, just speed up. Even weak four wheeler can out accelerate a loaded cement mixer.
While in front, here are the two most annoying things you can do. About a mile before the next passing lane slow down a lot more and make sure he can’t get around you. Then in the passing lane speed up. This will really get his goat. The second one is even better. Slow down before an uphill grade and get him as slow as you possibly can before you get to the base and as soon as you start climbing, speed up. With all that weight he’ll be stuck at whatever speed you slowed him down to, or very near it.

Dashcam video to the cops with a license plate number. They'll take it from there.

If you can figure out how to get the drum to stop spinning, the concrete inside will quickly harden and result in major damage. The truck won’t be going anywhere at that point.
TheThrillerExpo@reddit
This is more common than one may think and there are companies that specialize in busting out the hardened concrete from these drums. It’s big money losing a drum like that so they have ways of making it work, at least the bigger legit outfits I work with that have full time mechanics. The same companies will keep spare clean drums and simply remove the filled drum and swap for a clean one. This only puts a truck out of service for a day or two. Put the filled drum in line with the others at the back of the lot for the once or twice a year they hire the busters to come clean them out.
mslass@reddit
Adding “premix concrete truck drum set concrete buster” to my list of jobs I’m thankful I’ll never have.
udsd007@reddit
In some states, DOT builds roads and bridges and doesn’t do licensing. In those states, it’ll be DMV that does licensing. Just making sure complaints go to the right place. Sugar in the drum will ruin a load of mix. Complaints to FMCSA will absolutely have some effect; they don’t play around.
Top_Anything5077@reddit
Why are you on ULPT? It feels like there’s more to this story.
Personal_Curve8574@reddit (OP)
I didn’t know you could report to the DoT or FMCSA for this kind of thing. I’m in a high-crime area, especially this time of year, so I expected it to be out of the hands of local PD unless I got a crazy good dash cam video. I was expecting suggestions for how to hurt the company’s sales or something like that.
