Question about Jumpseating on United Internationally (CASS but not ZED yet)

I’m CASS-approved but not eligible for ZED yet. According to ALPA, I should be able to jumpseat on United internationally as long as there’s an open seat in the back.
My question is—how does this work logistically at international airports? Since United doesn’t allow pre-listing and jumpseat requests are handled at the gate, how do you get through security both in US airports and abroad without a boarding pass when you’re listing for the JS in person at the gate.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve jumpseated a few times on United abroad. Most times you go to the “special services” desk and they approve you there or call someone who knows how.

List at ticket counter, they’ll give you a standby pass. However some airports don’t let standbys through security until you have a seat at the last minute so then you gotta run lol.

Non revving in Australia is the worst. 100 open seats but weight restricted. And they don’t let you go through security until the last possible second.

If you have the time for it, I have very rarely seen weight restrictions going to HNL from Aus, then you can FedEx or UPS yourself home.

Depends on the airline mate! Jetstar was poop but Virgin Australia was great.

Great. Thanks! Does every international airport have this procedure as well? In other words will they know to verify my company badge etc in Iceland or Greenland for that matter and allow me through security.

Depends on the agents some are better than others. Just be nice and ask for supervisor if they don’t know how.

Not sure about in Greenland but once you get the boarding pass in KEF you shouldn't have any issues. Just check in at the gate as well.

International stations might not understand what jumpseating is so show up extra early to ticket counter.
I understand you’re not ZED eligible yet but for anyone else, use ZED for simplicity’s sake.

Be prepared when trying to list for a jumpseat international that the gate/ticket agents are unfamiliar with the process. You might need to politely push it up to a supervisor but also be prepared with a back up should no one be willing to help you.

Domestically you dont need a boarding pass to get through security. Just your credentials.
