I finally caught a holy grail catch for me, a Skybus DC-8 in action at the Miami International Airport between June 24th-25th! I am a huge fan of classic jets, so it was really a treat to see and hear this plane, particularly because it is currently the only other DC-8 left in the world operating revenue flights.

Nice looking plane

Really is a testament to how well Douglas used to build them before they merged with McDonnell. 2025 and a DC-8 is still flying commercially.

Is this supposed to be extra long or something or is just the perspective ?

Nope, it’s not perspective. The DC-8 is up there with the 757-300 and A340-600 as a certified flying pencil.

Wow , those are absolutely insane . Wish I’d be able to see those in person some day

This one is proof that a quadjet with CFM56's can get off the ground.

Seriously the DC-8 is so underrated it's actually sad. It's a shame there's only like 1 in the world left flying.

I’m aging myself but I have worked on DC-8 and 707s. Those things were absolute tanks. Overbuilt but what great planes. I can’t remember one of them that wasn’t puking hydraulic fluid somewhere. Always topping them off.

Wow! How lucky those pilots are to be flying that.
