I would like reccomendations for GPUs to replace my trusty yet finally dying GTX1080Ti.

I would like suggestions that would give me an upgrade but for an acceptable price (no real budget, just a bit price greedy).

My new PC arrived today, RTX 5060 TI 16gb and Ryzen 7 9700x to replace a GTX 1060 and i8700k. Quite excited to get stuck in over the next few days!

Honestly? If you are gaming at 1080p and the performance was enough for you, get another working second-hand 1080ti.
I have two of those (I'm probably one of the last few people who used to run them in SLI) and now I run 4080ti, and while the picture @4k is better, there is a distinct lack of wow effect. 1080ti for 1080p is still good.
TactualTransAm@reddit
I'm not sure what's wrong with your reply either. It's decent advice. Granted OP is probably looking for a brand new GPU, but if they aren't I think this is the best comment.
OneTrueShako@reddit
Newer games literally don't scale with SLI/Crossfire, not to mention all the Unreal 5 games with built in raytracing you can't turn off.
chad25005@reddit
The only reason I would hesitate is because of some of the newer games that REQUIRE raytracing. I don't think 1080ti can run those?
Prudent-Ad4509@reddit
Yep, there is this issue. But I would expect it to come in the form of "if you have RTX available, you cannot turn it off". Things in general seem to be moving in the direction opposite to RTX due to a very high cost of ray tracing - fake frames, dlss. I had to turn off ray tracing of reflections in hitman for it to be playable, the game was simply freezing up all the time with very low cpu and gpu usage during the freeze, which tells me that those modes are not even expected to be used and so they are not even tested properly by the developers. And antialiasing with RTX enabled in WuWa is just plain bad, the edges of the body model have very annoying and easily visible artefacts.
This really annoys me after spending a lot on a new GPU and CPU. All I've got is a slightly prettier visual effects and this is a thing that you stop paying attention just after a few hours. I still have to juggle with settings, but now instead of trying to get more performance I'm trying to reduce ugly artefacts in every second game.
One could buy a newer GPU for a specific game when it is really needed or just skip the game. So far 1080ti is enough (with many settings turned off) for a beautiful picture in 4K with some settings turned off and should be more than enough for 2K for many years.
Doom: The Dark Ages is the only game I know so far which is supposed to require RTX, and I'm skipping it anyway.
chad25005@reddit
I think the recent Indiana Jones game also has required ray tracing as well.
It's not a ton of games, but something to be mindful of.
Prudent-Ad4509@reddit
Yeah. And some older game require 40x0 or older to run physix efficiently due to nvidia being an ass and disabling older physics new newer gpus in the driver. That moves the general baseline in the 20x0*/30x0*/40x0* direction, including newer cards with the same performance with 12-16Gb memory onboard, but I will would still consider 1080ti depending on the price. GPU cards do not age like fine wine, you can postpone getting a stronger one until you really need one.
esscyi@reddit
terrible advice
Bloodsucker_@reddit
OP, you want an AMD 9070XT.
Rocketfuel77777@reddit
At least 4070 super.
SirTrinium@reddit
If you are not needing it asap, I would wait for the 5080ti to drop. should be end of summer or mid fall at the latest.
foxtrotdeltazero@reddit
Is it actually dying?
have you re-applied the thermal paste, changed the fans, replaced the thermal pads?
might be able to squeeze another year or two out of it, but if you got money to spend, might as well upgrade
TwTvonlysebs@reddit
Went from 1080ti for 4070Ti Super last year, worth every bit. Pretty sure 5070ti will be worth at price point (can find @ $750 just have to keep looking my friend got one) but dlss / frame gen IMO makes it no brainer
secretagentstv@reddit
The 9060 XT 16gb is $360 and 30% faster. The 5070 is $560 and is twice as fast. The 9070 XT is $730 and it's 2.5x faster. The 5070 Ti is $830 and is 2.5 faster.
Have your pick.
Azenji@reddit
RX 9070 non XT is also good with undervolting for $100 less than the XT variant
DaBushman@reddit
Great suggestion! I saw the ASRock version for $599 on Newegg. Very tempting
im36degrees@reddit
sounds about right. you can also slip the 9070 in between the 5070 and 9070xt. the are in the $630 range now i think
VruKatai@reddit
OP: what is your monitor size, rez and refresh rate?
What are you using your pc for? Gaming? AI? Blender etc? If gaming, what's your top 5 that you play?
What is your current build? Include PSU wattage.
If you're getting answers without getting asked these or other questions (and you are) completely disregard the "advice" you're getting because it's nothing more than regurgitated bullshit based off marketing and reviews that simply cannot be trusted except by a narrow few who came clean about being influenced. The "vs" websites are bullshit and even the heirarchy sites are bullshit because all these cards except for the very top tier depend on builds and ultimately what they're being used for.
I'm seeing some of these "suggestions" that could totally underserve you or give you more than you might need because it's your money their trying to spend and don't give a fuck, clearly, because if they did they'd be asking you this shit.
For example, I could say the 5070 is the best price/performance of any card this generation at $549 (because it is) but if I don't know what your needs are or what you have as far as cpu/psu etc, it might be overkill. If you're rocking a 1080ti (great gpu btw), I'd venture a guess (and I am guessing) that your other components are likely dated. Throwing a 9070xt into a 6600k system is an absolute waste.
So more info please so people who actually want to give you solid advice (and I'm sure there are others) can.
Jaives@reddit
RIP to your gpu. It was the GOAT.
Jackmoved@reddit
Pick a resolution and frame rate target. Have the monitor for that. Then pick a gpu for that. Tom's hardware has a gpu hierarchy chart for those goals as well. Like 1440p/ultra and the possible frame rates for that per card.
1440p/60/ultra for single player is great goal
Shazb0t_tv@reddit
5070 Ti
Menirz@reddit
Are you planning to upgrade your whole system or just swap your GPU into your current Mobo/CPU? If the latter, what do you have?
What resolution will you be playing and what refresh rate is your monitor?
I'm in a very similar boat since my 1080ti finally died, but I'm going for a wholely new system and likely upgrading my monitor as well. Since I'm looking to do high refresh 1440p ultrawide or 4k (still on the fence what monitor I want to upgrade to), I'm looking at a 5080 because the 9070xt is just a bit shy of the native performance I'd like to hit. It's a real shame AMD is not competing with a 9080 class this generation.
Sufficient_Aioli_253@reddit
If you're going to upgrade, do it right. This should be future-proof for at least 50 years.

My Titan X is dying. If I could afford that as it's replacement I would totally buy it 🤣
Dimo145@reddit
minimum a 16 gb GPU. 5070ti/9070xt probably.
greggm2000@reddit
5070 Ti, given that it has 16GB of VRAM and supports DLSS and the rest of the Nvidia software ecosystem, and given that you're not super sensitive on price, this would be your optimal choice rn. One tier higher would be the 5080, but you might not find it worth the price difference.
If you are willing to wait another 3-6 months, we should see the release of the "Super" GPU refresh from Nvidia, which is widely rumored to have 50% more VRAM.. this tracks with the release of 3GB GDDR7 RAM modules, and this would mean that a 5070 Ti Super would have 24GB.. more than enough, even at 4K. Since you've waited this long, what's another few months to get 50% more VRAM on your card? Worth it, I think.
Accomplished_Emu_658@reddit
Sky’s the limit since you have no budget or rest of your specs or resolution. Personally 5070ti or 9070xt if you find near retail if you can afford around 800. If you want to be under 500 9060xt 16gb or 5070 if you can find for a low 500’s. They will all out perform your 1080ti drastically.
In before 1080ti crowd calls this lies.
Mels_101@reddit
5070ti is the more budget friendly upgrade here.
Colddeath712@reddit
Probably 5070 or 5070ti or 9060xt or 9070xt

5070 for team green and 9060 xt 16gb for team red
