While I understand that Germany isn't a reliable partner, and may-be shouldn't lead the program, that still looks like an absurd request from France
muck2@reddit
Germany was never to lead the FCAS programme. It was agreed that France would be the project lead for FCAS, and Germany for the land forces' MGCS.
But the French have been reneging on all MoUs in both cases. And Dassault's Eric Trappier is completely ignoring the German requirements for FCAS. He's essentially all like "who but us can build something like Rafale" and "Germany's requirements are stupid, they should buy what we'll build for them [with their money]".
This cooperation is dead, and Germany is better off for it. Let Dassault build a modernised Rafale for France, Germany doesn't need such a plane.

how is Germany not a reliable partner? if I learnt something from the Ukraine war, it is that France is all talk, while Germany delivers

This time it kicked off before they even began arguing about a carrier-capable variant. Amazing.

If the French weren't so arrogantly proud they would be smart and let the Germans manage and engineer 80% while still getting half of the credit.
It's just going to end up being overpriced and underwhelming like previous iterations.

Germany to join GCAP soon?
Fast-Satisfaction482@reddit
Yeah that would be a good move. Or Airbus join forces with Saab for a no-bullshit next-gen?

so they don't want a new jet right? as if they don't know that everyone involved wants a piece of the pie.
