Truck stuck on 108 through Stanislaus nation forest.

I don’t know how this guy missed the several signs saying “ no trucks over 34 ft” passed this point. I mean at some point you gotta ask, should I be on this narrow and winding road? Anyways I don’t know if you broke down or just decided to stop, but you’re an idiot.

That shot of the moon 🌙 🌚 😍 👌
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
Semi was aiming for the moon!!!
JankyMark@reddit
Can’t lie that is a beautiful picture
Dindu______Nuffin@reddit
Is there signs before you turn onto it, or did they do the DOT special of waiting until you turn onto a road and there's nowhere to turn off/ turn around to put a sign?
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
The last sign I saw was in a difficult turn around point, but there was a few signs beforehand.
12GT500@reddit
That would require English to be used for reading signs.
Savagemocha@reddit
One word: Phone
UhOhAllWillyNilly@reddit
I now live off 108 and there is a sign saying “NO TRUCKS ALLOWED 62 MILES AHEAD” and numerous other signs way TF before where this chowderhead is.
ignoreme010101@reddit
in my 1st year OTR I ended up going through an area not unlike OP photo somewhere in Colorado, i definitely didn't see any signage, and honestly I knew pretty quickly that it was a bad route for me (within minutes) but there was literally nowhere to even think about turning around, took nearly 20min before - with the help of locals - before I was able to do a 5-point turn in an intersection to get outta there the way I came in. Talk about burning an impression in your psyche, never once since have I gone off-route in any similar circumstances!!
mr_potatoface@reddit
This was my thought lol. "Holy shit I'm not supposed to be here, I'd better turn around, but I'm going to wait for a safe opportunity first."
5 miles later...
Old-Wolf-1024@reddit
Signs don’t mean shit if you can’t read English…….or speak it
Tovarich_Zaitsev@reddit
Everyone on here talking about how stupid this guy is, but this road just looks like a normal Kiwi road, in fact it's properly paved so it's much nicer. Am I missing something here? Ig the tractor trailer combo is a bit more unwieldy then a full trailer and rigid or is there something else to it?
komstock@reddit
On the east side of 108 you'd probably do one or more of the following: cross into oncoming traffic, high center the trailer, or simply burn out your brakes.
There's a -25% grade on the other side which ends in a 10mph hairpin. Trucks NGMI.
Tovarich_Zaitsev@reddit
Oh yeah, fuck that in a tractor.
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
Keep following that road going east and on those downhill some of them are 1520% downgrade on switchbacks. I was quite entertained going down in a car.
Tovarich_Zaitsev@reddit
Oh right, yeah makes a bit more sense now.
ComprehensiveDark814@reddit
I found it on google street. The lanes look narrower than a semi-trailer (like maybe 7ft?) but it looks like all of the curves are possible if there's no oncoming traffic.

Dude tried to go over Sonora pass?! Hahahahahaha
ElMeroCeltibero@reddit
"B-but requiring drivers to know english to avoid things like this is racist 😭😭😭😭"
ze55@reddit
We have a sign that says: your Google maps is wrong this is a private road, dead end and people with fluent English and are definitely Americans get stuck at the gate pleading to drive their semi on our property.
This driver in the post could have known English and still carried on his drive. Keep your racism with you.
komstock@reddit
Wanting non-English speakers to stay away from driving ~~liveleak content generators~~ heavy vehicles on roadways that rely on english to function is not racist. Neither is wanting illiterates to be forbidden from operating trucks.
Believe whatever you want, but do know that your viewpoint is being (rightfully) rejected by many people.
ze55@reddit
Ok racist.
komstock@reddit
lol ok redditor
roberttheiii@reddit
Tollllll roaddddd
shot-by-ford@reddit
What do you do when they ask?
ze55@reddit
We tell them to back up and leave. Some will stay at the gate for a while 1 or 2 hours, few have slept in the truck near the gate and tried pleading again in the morning. We just don't let them in.
ElMeroCeltibero@reddit
Yeah, some people are dumb enough that they'll get into trouble even with signs. Maybe they themselves need a refresher on reading comprehension. It doesn't change the fact that not knowing the language is a problem. Doesn't matter if they're rednecks, Russians, Chinese, Indian or whatever else. And this is coming from a Mexican. I don't want people driving CMVs in Mexico without knowing spanish. The point is that you dorks just throw out the racist accusations even when it doesn't make any sense.
Jonas_Venture_Sr@reddit
Going to be a shock to some of these country boys when they fail the reading portion of this test.
dumbdistributor@reddit
Gotta get Hank Hill on it
aacawe@reddit
This guy is not even in the danger zone as far as I can tell. He is east of the marine base? The danger zone is just west of the marine base through to the Sonora Park / pacific crest trailhead sign. If you’re going west you can flip a Uee at the base or even right at the final “no trucks” sign. But if you’re going east and you reach the no trucks warning sign at Sonora Park, you are FFKKKKKKkkkd.
stephenforbes@reddit
That's when you drop the trailer and deny it was ever yours.
Charlie_Hustler@reddit
Ngl I've seen some ppl make this same mistake. I've been told it's mainly cuz there aren't any turn around points once you get to signs that tell you not to keep going
komstock@reddit
There's a turnaround right there at the Kennedy Meadows parking lot. IIRC it even says "LAST TRUCK TURNAROUND"
UhOhAllWillyNilly@reddit
That is not true in this case. There are plenty of signs including one over 62 miles away.
itchypalp_88@reddit
The DoT special right there.
No-Anteater5184@reddit
Honestly, how does he get out of this?
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
There is a video somewhere on this Reddit post explaining how he will get out. Lol.

Trucker in traffic court “I plea da fifth”
Efficient_Ostrich_54@reddit
That's a no-brainer. State routes are NEVER a safe bet.
MyOwnChemicalRomance@reddit
Huh? I drive state routes daily almost.
Efficient_Ostrich_54@reddit
In CA? They might be better, but I wouldn't do that everywhere else. Age of the highway system makes a big difference.
Maleficent_Beyond_95@reddit
In almost the ENTIRE country, state routes are just fine. It's only in a few places in the mountains, or across deserts where you will run into a problem. I spend a lot of time on state and US highways just to avoid the idiots on the Interstates.
MyOwnChemicalRomance@reddit
Now that you mention it yeah, there's certain Appalachian states I don't trust a state route. Shit...West Virginia I won't leave the interstate, fuck that noise.
Maleficent_Beyond_95@reddit
I have done Kawasaki dedicated deliveries several times, and there are a lot of dealerships in WV that are way off the interstate. There are two that I have been to that included me getting off of I-68 in the middle of Cumberland, MD, and another that I got to via WV26 and US50. The worst thing about WV26 was the logging trucks that rounded every corner straddling the line. But there are some sharp corners and STEEP hills. Coming up off of the Cheat River, I was down to 25mph, with only 8k pounds in the trailer due to the climb. Another fun route is US33 between Elkins and Seneca Rocks in WV.
MyOwnChemicalRomance@reddit
Midwest, great lakes region. Might be totally different story out west.
GrumpyOldMike@reddit
Every now and then one tries it here in Oregon on 242, the old McKenzie Highway. Signs, flashings lights and a turnaround big enough for a 53’. There are corners on that you just can’t make. The ditch on the trailer side of the corner is a 300’ drop.
Boxers_havehooves@reddit
Sounds a lot like Hwy 28/64 in Macon county NC, aka Highlands Rd. 2000 ft elevation gain over about 10 miles up the Cullasaja river gorge. Multiple signs and a big fancy turn-around and semis still get up there. Then need an escort to get through. And don’t even get me started on the big rigs trying to use Hwy 129 between NC and TN, aka “Tail of the Dragon” 🤦🏻♀️
Over_Context_7683@reddit
That’s so awful for the driver hopefully he was able to correct the situation
FunnyHighway9575@reddit
Serious question because I don't live on that side of the country and am local to my states surrounding area. What happens at this point? How does he get out? Does the highway patrol come and close the road so he can back out followed by a hefty fine?
3ShotsToHell@reddit
Growing up there is Sonora, it always amazed me that idiots would try this with 53’ trailer. Must be a dozen signs stating nothing over 30’ past strawberry
Mesoposty@reddit
Just send them up old priest grade next….
golkx75@reddit
Dog town too maybe, lol
Tiny-Try8890@reddit
Not a trucker, however i used to follow a dude who would move around utility trucks for pg&e right after the big Santa Rosa fire.
I vividly remember this hill and the trucks crawling up it going 10 mph, beautiful area
BusinessStrict6375@reddit
Well, at least he's got a good view.
ADirtFarmer@reddit
I'd be happy camping there for a while.
UniversalGundam@reddit
He probably can't read signs in English
adamjg2@reddit
West bound there is a sign even before the snow gates saying no semis over 38’ kingpin to rear axle beyond here. Ample turnaround room there. No excuse.
lord_nuker@reddit
I had my hour of shame reversing uphill after meeting a 3,2m underpass 😅 Yes, there was a sign for it before going downhill, just to bad it was in the middle of an overgrown hedge
JimGordonsKnife@reddit
Absolutely fucking gorgeous place to screw up and get stuck.
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
Yup sure is
Jimjam916@reddit
There's only one freeway going over the mountains that's legal for a full sleeper truck with a 53' trailer and guys think they can be clever and shortcut it. There's a good reason why you can't
NomadTruckerOTR@reddit
Is i-80 the only truck legal route through the mountains in California?
Jimjam916@reddit
For that configuration, yeah. You can take 50 if you have a shorter trailer, but that's about it
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
My question for everyone is. Do they close the road and tow him out, or how the hell are they getting him out?
AspNSpanner@reddit
They will call in a farm (bulk milk) pick up drive to back that up the 8 miles needed.

MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
That’s what I thought lol
amazingmaple@reddit
Hahaha. We have a route 108 in Vermont with the same problem.
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
lol, this guy had a drop of about 8000 feet if he’s trailer didn’t make them tight turns
amazingmaple@reddit
We don't have that problem lol. We have a spot that is a Sharp corner between a bunch of huge boulders. A straight truck is as much as you want to do. It's a shortcut that's only open in the summer. There are multiple signs, a couple of message boards and an area that they put up some chicanes that if you can't get through them then you better turn around.
MorePlate4118@reddit (OP)
My first year driving went into Zion with hazmat, was able to turn around before getting caught. I didn’t see any signs. So it might happen to some of us lol
CannibalAnus@reddit
When you dont know/understand english, ignorance is bliss. They see 4 wheelers do it, must mean their big 70 ft long ass can do it too.
