I got all the AB releases (herc and xena) when they originally released. I've gone back and bought the Walmart complete sets for both and had to buy another herc season 1 ab to get all the movies to add to his complete set. But I've loved these sine the beginning. I recently got the digital complete series of Xena on vudu/fandango so now don't have to get up to change the disc's. 8ve made it through season 1 and am about to start season 2. This was my childhood and I wish more than anything that I could go back to that time when things were simpler.

My wife introduced me to Xena. My first time watching the series was like 4 years ago and I gotta say that as a whole, the show aged incredibly well with our social aspect. Enjoy the goofiness and evolution of the characters!

Hm maybe u can find a bit cheaper, but I thought it was okay. I also just wanted to buy from a seller who I thought seemed trustworthy, lots of detailed pictures of the product and such, good reviews as well. There's a lot of people on eBay who sell stuff but have very bad pictures of the product.

The Walmart boxed set doesn't have all the extra features like interviews, behind-the-scenes videos, episode commentaries, and bloopers. For what you get in the deluxe boxed sets, $250 is a steal. I paid $500 for mine!

Anchor Bay was "it" at first. I snapped up the boxed sets as soon as they came out. I always wondered if I should've waited for newer versions, but feedback from other fans suggested AB is still the best choice. Funny thing, after all these years, I'd never noticed the "CC" on S4-6, so don't recall ever using that feature. 😂

There's also a Universal Action Pack boxed set of Hercules that has the trilogy that introduced Xena, as well as movies featuring Lucy and Renee as other characters. I highly recommend it. Those show flashbacks you'll see in ACADEMY OF PERFORMING BARDS. I hope you watch eps in order at least once -- not skipping any -- regardless of sequencing snafus, like with Gabs' outfits and staff. You can make up your own mind whether there are any you choose to ignore or mix up later.

Others on this list can give you their opinions on the importance of also watching Herc -- both for itself and eps that have characters and storylines that overlap with XWP.

Listen to the Xena Warrior Podcast episode on MWF before you dismiss it! I already liked it as a goofy episode, but my appreciation increased after listening to them talk about it. They see it as Gabrielle reckoning with her fears and frustrations around motherhood in an Illusia-like world.

I hated it. Watched it once, then tried again years later to give it a fair chance but just no, it doesn't work for me. I loved The Bitter Suite episode which was also quite bizarre, but not to the extent of MWF. That nasty squid baby is unnerving.
