Anyone find out which model years this covers yet?

Yay! My truck is a 2013.....
grendel_loki@reddit
Thanks!
Hopeful_Two4775@reddit
And we are not saying RAM because _________?
cpufreak101@reddit
I feel like it might potentially affect the Gladiator as those technically ride on a ram 1500 chassis
bridgepainter@reddit
No, they "technically" do not.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
It's not a direct swap, but it's basically a narrowed 1500 chassis with 1500 rear suspension. The Gladiator is definitely based on the 1500.
bridgepainter@reddit
The frames are visibly completely different, but believe whatever you want.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
Yes, the Jeep one is visibly narrower. But other than that, it uses most of the same frame components, including the entire rear suspension.
But believe what you want...
TheRAP79@reddit
Adaptable chassis architecture is nothing new, so I wouldn't be so surprised if if was a narrow frame. A few quick moves of a computer mouse isn't that difficult.
bridgepainter@reddit
It's a JL with a bed.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
It's a JL on a modified 1500 chassis.
bridgepainter@reddit
Okay, show me.
BrandanG@reddit
The suspension is derived from the Ram. Take a look at the control arm placement compared to the Wrangler.
spongebob_meth@reddit
The half ton dodge has ifs. The frame is completely different from a wrangler lol
BrandanG@reddit
I wasn't talking about the front. Both the Gladiator and Ram have a five-link rear suspension, unlike the Wrangler, which has a four-link.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
Go look at pictures, I don't need to hold your hand.
bridgepainter@reddit
Hey, man, you're the one making this dumbass assertion. I already looked at pictures. IFS vs. SFA, several other differences. You're the clown who thinks everything with a four link live rear axle is magically the same platform
airfryerfuntime@reddit
No one said anything about front suspension, and I'm not even going to bother reading the rest of that.
You really need to learn when to stop.
bridgepainter@reddit
You said they're on the same platform, and they're clearly not. You're free to stop spewing bullshit whenever you like
airfryerfuntime@reddit
No, I said that the chassis is based on the 1500 chassis, which it is. It's literally a narrowed 1500 chassis.
Slideways@reddit
Nothing in that link indicates one way or the other.
bridgepainter@reddit
Literally in the introductory paragraph:
"Based on the same platform as the Wrangler JL"
Wrangler: famously not a half-ton pickup truck
Slideways@reddit
Platform and chassis are not the same thing anymore. Platform is now more synonymous with the vehicle’s software.
popsicle_of_meat@reddit
Vehicle platform has meant body/chassis for literal decades and still does.
Slideways@reddit
Body and chassis are not the same thing. The chassis of the JL is not the same as the JT, at least not the rear.
Niyeaux@reddit
this is an incredible sorry attempt at pretending you meant something other than what you clearly meant. it's fine to be wrong sometimes man.
Slideways@reddit
It's obviously not the same chassis, due to the wheelbase alone. JT has a five-link rear suspension, while the JL has a four-link suspension. Being snarky doesn't make you right.
modularpeak2552@reddit
The wagoneer does though
ChasedWarrior@reddit
A Gladiator is a Wrangler with a truck bed. Not even closely related to the Ram.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
No, it's a lengthened wrangler body on a narrowed 1500 chassis with 1500 rear suspension.
EatSleepJeep@reddit
This is nonsense. It's a lengthened wrangler frame with a 4 door wrangler body on the front and a bed.
airfryerfuntime@reddit
No, it's not. The frame is completely different from a normal Wrangler frame.
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
Unrelated question but how's the DB7?
inaccurateTempedesc@reddit
The Gladiator is a Wrangler with a truck bed and (to an extent) a narrowed Ram 1500 with a Jeep cab/bed at the same time. It's weird but he's right.
porterbrown@reddit
No. The gladiator has many connections to the aircraft length dodge pickups.
That's why they suck.
Gimmie a 2 door with short bed.
USNMCWA@reddit
The frame design is the same, but you are correct that the Gladiator is 3.2" shorter wheelbase.
They share the same suspension parts in the rear, too.
teeksquad@reddit
The like three sentence article specifically calls them out as Ram trucks
No-Number-5938@reddit
They don’t ride on a ram 1500 chassis
warenb@reddit
Roll Away Multiverse?
RiftHunter4@reddit
Its related to a specific part.
Any vehicle that uses this part could potentially be involved in the recall, so while they "Stellantis trucks" that could include jeeps and other brands.
teeksquad@reddit
It’s odd that the specifically called them out as Rams in the article if that is the case.
modularpeak2552@reddit
The Jeep wagoneer uses a ram 1500 chassis
besselfunctions@reddit
Is Ram well known outside of the US? Reuters isn't based in the US.
Solid_Enthusiasm550@reddit
14 reported issues with what sounds like a "Parking pawl" issue?
I wouldn't even consider this recall territory for as many of them where made.
I would, like to see the circumstances of the supposed failure?
teeksquad@reddit
6 are dead from it brah
Thomas_633_Mk2@reddit
6 dead or injured
While I fully support the recall, it does not say 6 people died, it doesn't say how many.
Windows-XP-Home-NEW@reddit
This issue killed actor Anton Yelchin, and it was very publicized when it did.
Solid_Enthusiasm550@reddit
Actually it was nothing to do with the mechanics of the transmission. He death was frim the, shifter design...completely separate parts.
Windows-XP-Home-NEW@reddit
TIL.
DirectNova@reddit
Oof, not looking good.
opeth10657@reddit
People always talk about the ford recalls, but they always seem to be a lot more proactive about their issues.
dsonger20@reddit
And a lot less severe.
Apexnanoman@reddit
Pinto.
Navydevildoc@reddit
I mean that was 50 years ago now, I think they can say it's behind them.
Crapitron@reddit
What’s the cutoff, exactly? GM’s ignition switch recall was over a decade ago. Are we supposed to still be mad about that? Or do we have to wait until 2064 to stop being mad?
JonFrost@reddit
This post was made 6 hours ago
Think we're good to call it here, right?
IAmTaka_VG@reddit
Wow
Matt_WVU@reddit
Didn’t RAM trucks go through this very same thing years ago with the rotary dial shifters not engaging the parking pawl properly?
I feel like this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this
Phosphorus444@reddit
I think that was Jeep.
lawman9000@reddit
Yeah, pretty sure it was the 2015 Grand Cherokee. I had one. I could totally see how people wouldn't know that it's in Park or not. Neat shifter, but pointless.
mopar39426ml@reddit
My family had a 2014.
Never had issues finding park, but getting into reverse was a bitch.
stevolutionary7@reddit
But to be clear, that was not the rotary dial. That was a lever that moved back to the center like a joystick.
Erigion@reddit
Yup. Shitty gear selector in a jeep is what killed Anton Yelchin
CyanDGK@reddit
I didn’t know this was something they had issues with before, but right now they have an open service bulletin for the Wagoneer S’ because the parking pawl will get stuck out of position if you shift it in or out of park too quickly after turning the vehicle on. When it happens you also can’t shut them off since it doesn’t think it’s in park until you clear codes twice, once to get it into park and then again to fully key it off. Supposedly just a software fix, except the software fix isn’t out and the only ETA we were given was “Q3 2025.” I've been stuck with one repeatedly coming back to our dealership because they’re just riddled with issues ever since they started shipping them back in January.
Matt_WVU@reddit
Like others said the last time this happened it was the Jeep brand but I could’ve sworn they’ve been having issues with their rotary dial long before is popped up
CyanDGK@reddit
It is a rotary shifter on the Wagoneer S so they definitely still haven’t figured it out, but it looks like this investigation was for an already released and performed recall for the 1500-5500s. I’ve only been a Chrysler tech for a little over a year at this point but they’ve already had recalls for a recall that I’ve had to go back and do correctly. There was one for installing a cover over the brake booster on mid 2010 Cherokees because they had issues with corrosion forming, only issue is the covers weren’t being installed properly and the issue continued to occur.
Skensis@reddit
As it was written
