What do I do with my PC?

These are my PC specs:
Lenovo Legion 5 10th Gen Intel Core i5 15.6 inch Full HD Gaming Laptop (8GB/1TB HDD + 256GB SSD/Windows 10/120 Hz/NVIDIA GTX 1650 4GB GDDR6 Graphics/Phantom Black/2.3Kg), 82AU00B5IN
It is not a good gaming PC I know. But I was on a budget back in 2020 and I just had to buy something where I can do basic college work and play Valorant on. And it worked just fine along with other minor steam games.
But now, I do feel like playing better games like God of War or even Hogwarts and I know my PC cannot handle them. So do I just buy a new one? Or should I upgrade this one?
If I’m being honest, I don’t even know what upgrading or building a PC even means 🥲. I can take help from my friends for this but I thought I’ll ask the real community for help first.
What option is budget friendly? Buying or upgrading ?
I’m a noob when it comes to PCs so please be kind🙏🏽 I’m learning .

amazon prime day starts tomorrow + if you're over 18 you can sign up for the amazon credit card get another 150-200$ off the purchase goes on the credit card you have 1 year to pay it off with no interest

Yes. I’ll watch out for the sale. I am a working adult so I have adult money to buy stuff. I need to decide between two major purchases 😅

Well like I said the card is nice because it gives you a year to pay it off I also forgot to add that you get 5% cash back off everything you buy on Amazon so the $1,400 purchase you'll get like $70 cash back which goes on to your Amazon balance so the next time you go and buy something you can click use my Amazon balance and it'll take the money off

I’m based in India. Yes the card will be helpful with EMIs but it has its own problems. And they lie to us in India with the 5% cashback. I use my father’s card to buy stuff but the cashback never really works.
But thanks for the suggestion. I will indeed look into this.

Long story short, a PC like that can't be upgraded a tone. And the CPU will be a bottleneck.
So you'll most likely need to get a new PC.
A) what's your budget roughly
B) what other games will you play? (High graphic games not Roblox/Minecraft anything can run that)

I see. My budget depends because I also want to buy a two wheeler which is roughly 2 L INR. Soooo I need to save up. But I can go up to 1.2-1.4 L INR me thinks.
And games. I want to play Hogwarts mainly but then also stuff like God of War and Assasins Creed. I’m trying to install GTA V on this one because my friends say it can even run on your phone :P

Thanks for the fast reply. I'm afraid I'm in the UK and so we will have alot different prices and stock etc for different components . so I'm afraid I'm just gonna recommend some general points in the right direction, but if you have a friend who knows computers, talk to them.
My recommendation:
Ryzen 5 5600 (AM4 socket) A very good and budget friendly CPU (in the UK at least)
16GB RAM However, 32gb will be a lot better and future proof, so get 32gb if you want.
1TB SSD (or more) Make sure you are getting an SSD and not HDD, they are very different and SSDs are a lot faster.
I can't recommend a GPU, the prices and stock of GPUs changes so much it will be unfair. But you can search for
" VIDEO GAME NAME hardware requirements "
and it will come up with some specs it needs. And there will be a GPU. And go from there. I wouldn recommend getting a better GPU than it requires tho.
I hope this helps but I would advice to talk to a friend who knows what the prices and stock is like in your area/country.

Hello Kind Stranger. Thank you for taking your time out and recommending this! I’ll keep a note of this and involve my PC obsessed friends to help me take a decision. Thanks a ton!!!!

There is a difference between laptops and desktop computers. While there are very limited upgrades you can do to a laptop, they're not built with that in mind, outside RAM and storage. Building a desktop is something that is very doable. I would suggest holding to your laptop, diving into YouTube as much as possible to learn the basics of building a desktop. Do any of your friends build computers? Any shops local to you? These are fantastic resources.
