This is when their relationship turned the tide in the show for me. The “don’t you leave me” part was everything. Every time Gabrielle came close to death you can see how much xena won’t and can’t let her go.

This was an amazing scene. I remember seeing it for the first time, when it first aired in my country, and I genuinely did not know if Gabrielle was gonna die for real. What if they had decided to kill her off!? When she comes back, her eyes all feverish and teary, and Xena protects her with her arms and the music rises......ooh my. It is still so emotional and moving.

I remember seeing Lucy & Renee talking about this scene and realising that Renee hadn't been given a q to wake up and Lucy hadn't either so they just let Lucy keep building it up naturally and the wake up time be complete surprise to her too. They did such an amazing job ✨
