Hollywood Executives should start doing cocaine again

It seems like since they stopped, they've just been coming up with the most lackluster movies of the past few decades compared to the 70s and 80s when it was common.

Who said they stopped

They must all be doing meth or some other weird bullshit because Hollywood hasn’t done any epic shit in quite a while. When was the last time they put out something amazing?
Skimable_crude@reddit
Well, there were the 30 or so marvel movies that felt I needed to know the back story of every superhero known to humanity with a few improbable extra plots thrown in.
Oh, and Wicked was pretty good, but now I have to wait more years than I care to think about just to watch the sequel to see the ending that we've known about for over one hundred years.
LiquidSoCrates@reddit
I saw Wicked live on stage. It was alright. It was no Cobra. No Terminator.
Skimable_crude@reddit
Cobra? That's a high bar for film making. Why was there never a Cobra: The Musical I wonder?
Darkforces134@reddit
Wicked: For Good comes out November 21, 2025. That's one year between the movies.

Thanks.

bullshit

They need to watch the stuff we get in South India. If the RRR was the peak, you need to view the entire mountain!!
Puffification@reddit
I think they should start making 135 minute epic movies with full orchestral soundtracks about really mundane topics, like the main character lost his bottle of mustard and has to hire detectives and fight gangsters to try to track it down. Then in the end there's a 10 minute scene of him eating a hotdog, with no dialogue, just him eating with epic music

Dude, David Lynch hasn’t been dead that long. Too soon.
SmoovCatto@reddit
or meth -- like david o. selznick . . .
Key_Cat_7123@reddit
That's a bold idea! While the '70s and '80s certainly gave us some classics, I'm not sure we can credit coke for creativity. Plenty of amazing films are still made today, just with different styles and themes. What specific '70s or '80s movies do you think are missing from modern cinema?
jizzyjugsjohnson@reddit
We need the old school Stallone / Arnold / Bruce action movie back. Pedro Pascal should be a one man army touting a big ass hand cannon and a minigun , not dicking around in lame videogame capeshit
ContinuumGuy@reddit
This sounds like something on The Studio
Puzzleheaded-Ad-379@reddit
I want to see more movies like The Burbs
mercury_pointer@reddit
They got bought out by Wall Street. Those guys do plenty of cocaine but have no love for art.
Shaundrae@reddit
They stopped?

It's either too much or not enough

My money is on too much.
