This is my setup. I have my entire desktop PC sitting on the floor and my 34" UW monitor mounted.
I have a memory foam mattress with a memory foam topper.
Not the worst way to spend a 34.
Equilateral-circle@reddit
How long will it last before the battery is dead?
rytram99@reddit (OP)
I just use autostart.
ler7421@reddit
Does it turn off everytime your auto starts comes on? That happened to me when I had my Xbox in my old international. Main reason I switched to a freightliner. That and the bed is a little longer.
Outlaw11091@reddit
Same experience. Had a Cascadia with "opti-idle" and it would cut power for a half-second before the engine turned over.
I went to a company shop and just asked one of the guys how I could prevent that and he wired my inverter directly to the battery, apparently.
ler7421@reddit
Oh that’s weird I thought that was only an international thing. I have to idle all the time now but my old cascadia didn’t turn my power off when the opti-idle started.
Outlaw11091@reddit
It's not a brand thing: it's how the company you work for has inverters installed.
Wired directly to the batteries will give constant power.
Any other way, will be interrupted on startup.
rytram99@reddit (OP)
Oh. I forgot to mention i have a an APU.
homucifer666@reddit
If you have an APU, pretty much as long as you have fuel.
Tacnomitron@reddit
I have a sack of shit EPU… they suck; not the same.
The EPU batteries last like 4 hours on a good day and does not self charge any batteries truck still needs to turn on and be in battery mode to auto start 🥴
I’ll kill to have a APU again haha.
Stormcell0083@reddit
Ehh, epu ain't bad
Tacnomitron@reddit
Definitely is when the company counts idle time as a massive hit against MPG and any idle over 5% idle times means no safety bonus… especially when the EPU requires battery mode either way.

Anybody have recommendations for internet? My Hotspot that cost 5 bucks through Criket works for TV shows but not for gaming and I have my Playstation with me
JohnyFakenspea@reddit
I have a business hotspot through Veriozn. I can pull 40 ping on, and it's 300GB of data a month.
UniversityNo8574@reddit
Oh nice. What does that run you per month? If you dont mind me asking
JohnyFakenspea@reddit
Around a $100, but you'll have to convert your phone line to a business line as well.
Own_Clerk4772@reddit
I don't know how y'all can do it ... sitting and driving for almost 11 hours in shift and then hop right back into the sleeper. I have to get around and move for a while..
SpiritualFlamingo599@reddit
I mean ngl i used to game pretty hard before i was a trucker and on weekends where i had nothing going on it would just be bed to desk then back to bed(with a shower and food in between) not much changes in the truck just a smaller space is all.
East_Indication_7816@reddit
so how's your health and your belly fat?
East_Indication_7816@reddit
show us your belly , lets see those fat tummy for the long lazy hours of sitting.
Excellent_Pay_8782@reddit
Doesn't T mobile have unlimited 5G home or something like that It's a little wireless modem thing Someone on here talked about it before
Anyway you guys have a better setup than I have right now
I just have an ipad with emulators and a controller for it
I really want to get a solid PC but I'm gonna probably set that up at home. The way the truck bounces around and shit. Can't risk it
Other option was a PS5 but I want a solid wifi if I'm gonna do that

Ah okay, I couldn't figure it out. Thx.
scottiethegoonie@reddit
This is honestly superior to pretty much every other seating position.
I had a nice 42" OLED in my bunk but I could never find a comfortable way to game. Tried sitting with my back to the wall + a nice keyboard lapdesk but it never felt solid on a a bed. A solid "desk" area is what makes all the difference. A steering wheel is perfect, especailly a LT or Volvo wheel.
NostradamusJones@reddit
Ikr? I have to be seated to game.
SpiritualFlamingo599@reddit
I do that when im at a shipper, i have one of those couch gaming lap pags with the memory foam arm rests. Best purchase ive made ngl

This was my setup up until I switched to local. I miss it all the time, but love being with the wife more. (If she leaves me I'll be back in a sleeper in 2 days)
Admirable_Average_32@reddit
WOULD!!
Rayunex@reddit
A desk. My God there's a desk. I'll be moving to Schneider soon and it's looking like all their trucks just have beds.

How’s the mutliplayer speeds?
rytram99@reddit (OP)
I dont play MP games while trucking. It would be good with my hotspot but i only get 30gb/mo for that. Most of the time i use the wifi of the loves/pilot i am at.
Tacnomitron@reddit
Why not explore Calyx Institute's T-Mobile Internet options? I use the 4G model, but the 5G model has much faster speeds, and Calyx works in 95-99% of the locations I visit, with great reception (rural areas are the only time it can be iffy). It has nearly 100% coverage on all major highways and interstates.
jabber1990@reddit
if you have time to watch TV you're not working hard enough
Tacnomitron@reddit
Bud you have 10 hours of mandatory break what the fuck you mean? You can easily game for 2-3 hours of that time and be just fine for the day ahead, lol. What a bonehead trucker take this is.
skeletons_asshole@reddit
That’s an LT right? How do you like driving it?
rytram99@reddit (OP)
Honestly. Its been fine. My biggest issue has been a leaking air condenser leaking all over my floor and no matter how many times they fix the sealing it keeps happening.
Mechanically though, the truck has been fine. Well there is the death wobbling that happens between 47-50mph where the truck just starts wobbling harder the longer you stay in that range.
SpiritualFlamingo599@reddit
Mines right at 45, its honestly just international things. Been like that in the 06 rollback light duty i drove and it hasnt changed in these new ones. They can just never have a decent steering system
skeletons_asshole@reddit
The one I drove at least handled bumps alright, unlike the Cascadia I was assigned after that. Cascadia was pretty good at leaving indents in the ceiling from my forehead.
I’m in a 579 now. Unreliable plastic pile of shit but god does it drive nice.
Tacnomitron@reddit
I dislike the ride of the Cascadia, but they typically perform well in most aspects of the truck, and for me, it has been one reliable truck (I've never had any major breakdowns in 5 years of driving them). Any truck rides better than the Cascadia lol.
Tacnomitron@reddit
Mine did it between 45-55 MPH, and at 52-55 MPH, you can feel it getting better. Anything over 55 and it goes away entirely. It made it near impossible to see out the mirrors or know any distance because they rattle so damn much. I also had many interior issues because the latches on all the cabinets and such were so bad; they would open when you hit a divot or pothole in the road, and all my stuff would fly out of the cabinets. They also did not latch tightly or anything, so you would constantly hear them rattling around, and I had to add additional rubber buffers to stop most of the annoying rattle of the cabinets when the truck was on (idle or driving it would do it).
RoseKlingel@reddit
What're you playing?
Microshlongg@reddit
How many fireballs are you charging per feet pic 🫣
rytram99@reddit (OP)
I can charge for those!?

Gotta diversify that income my guy. Wait till you see what you can do with your caboose.
Jets_De_Los@reddit
Nice feet.
gbgman@reddit
Love the setup, I had something similar when I was otr. My apu had a battery sensor that would start when the battery got too low. A 34 in a dead town meant I still had entertainment.

Playing Dragon Quest
foreverlost1nsea@reddit
I'm playing with my Switch or phone most of the time. I'm more of arcade player though. I wish I could have one machine in the truck lol that would be siiiiick
