200 euro difference between 7800X3D and 7700x

Hello, I'm trying to upgrade my cpu and I've been out of the game for a while when it comes to pc parts.
I have almost decided on a Ryzen 7 7800x3D, when I found that the 7700x is priced 200 euros less! (500 vs 300)
Now, I play at 1440p~165hz (can go to 185) with a 3060ti (and the i5 8600K, loved this cpu). But I also do a lot of heavy Lr editing and would also like to start using Ps on the side with it more.
Perplexiti AI tells me that R7 7700x even has a small boost in Lr workloads over 7800x3d due to it's higher base clocks. I would also be more leaning towards a cpu that would last longer and pair better with my planned GPU upgrade next year (Probably a 4070/4070s)
To finally get to my question, is it worth it to spend 200e more on a 7800X3D and get some more RAM later since it's relatively cheap, or should I go for a cheaper option and get some more RAM. Currently I'm pairing the cpu with 6000Mhz CL30 32GB of RAM.
Apart from my GPU and some storage, I didn't touch my pc in 7 years! So this process feels very exciting!

Now, with 3060 ti at 1440p the X3D is not worth that much more, because your gpu would be a bottleneck. You said that you're planning of upgrading the gpu in the future, with the 4070/ti the X3D in games would start to make difference, but still 200€ more in my opinion is too much. Also remember that the 7800X3D is only better in games. In non-gaming applications, you won't see a difference vs the 7700x. I personally have a 9600x (which is pretty close to the performance in games to 7700x) and im pairing it with a rx 9070 xt in 1440p gaming, and its easly doing high framerates in aaa games.

Also remember that to cool an X3D processor, especially 7800X3D you need a pretty good cooler, since these cpu's run pretty hot, because the 3d cache is on top of the actual cpu

So getting to the point, I would suggest you to buy the 7700x and save those 200€ to spend them later on a new gpu. The 7700x wont bottleneck any gpu in 1440p right now, even a 4090

Thank you for the reply, man! The cooling part is a huge factor here because my case and fan setup isn't really good atm. The good ol' i5 8600K was reaching 80-ish c sometimes, but that CPU took 7 years of torture between extremely hot summers and my bad PC cleaning habits. So I think I'm going to spend these 200e on some QoL improvements like new fans and some more storage.

if you play cs2, its the x3d

Never was a much of a CS player after the glory 1.6 days. I play Siege, want to play The Finals with my buddy, and I also play Apex sometimes, although I hit 144 fps in that game already. But I also just - play games, if that makes sense. I play Warframe, Baldrus Gate 3, and every other good AAA game I find interesting. I am also want to play the new Battlefield when it comes out. Honorable mention is a good old arcadey game of TDM out of Call of Duty, I was always a sucker for some good quickscoping, but my last one was CoD:CW because the game is becoming a huge joke lately.
