I’d rock that. You’ll most likely burn some fuel and be truly legal. But DOT won’t mess with you at that point honestly.
Also in case you didn’t know, 1 gal of fuel weighs 8 lbs. if you need to ever figure the weight of fuel into your load.

Specific gravity of diesel fuel ranges from .82 to .95 so multiply 8.33 by the s.g. to obtain density of diesel fuel per US gallon.

Just get a Big gas can in the hose. Siphon out 20 lb of fuel from the tank and then strap it to the. Bumper and you should be perfect

The likelihood of a small weight shift is pretty high but you should lose fuel weight 7lbs per gallon. Normally the weight shifts toward the back of the trailer on a long haul, i have weighed a load multiple times on several occasions because of how close to not being legal it was. At least a couple hundred pound shift towards the tandems is possible. I'd be too anxious to run it that close but that's just me. Get it scaled again before you reach an open DOT scalehouse.

Only the balance shifts back, the trailer remains at the same weight on tandems and the steers and drives are the ones that reduce in weight.

That’s why after you get into practice you don’t need to waste all that time and money at the cat scale. One time late at night at the east TA in Ontario California it took my 30 minutes to exit scale and wiggle through an overcrowded parking lot to get to the fuel island to park and go in to get my scale ticket.

Wow! That exactly what I did and experienced in Bordentown, NJ yesterday, I had to get to the scale and even when getting to fuel island, it was so packed and tight all over the place. Spend 40 minutes total for that.
