I had a load of beer that looked really like this, the Coors scale’s are very accurate, the guy at the Tomahawk scale weighed me by axle and had to just let me go, good times
The likelihood of a small weight shift is pretty high but you should lose fuel weight 7lbs per gallon. Normally the weight shifts toward the back of the trailer on a long haul, i have weighed a load multiple times on several occasions because of how close to not being legal it was. At least a couple hundred pound shift towards the tandems is possible. I'd be too anxious to run it that close but that's just me. Get it scaled again before you reach an open DOT scalehouse.
That’s why after you get into practice you don’t need to waste all that time and money at the cat scale. One time late at night at the east TA in Ontario California it took my 30 minutes to exit scale and wiggle through an overcrowded parking lot to get to the fuel island to park and go in to get my scale ticket.
Wow! That exactly what I did and experienced in Bordentown, NJ yesterday, I had to get to the scale and even when getting to fuel island, it was so packed and tight all over the place. Spend 40 minutes total for that.
Sexy. Suck your 5th wheel up some, you need more weight on your steers. You can probably go up to 13,200, depending on your equipment. Once you get your 5th wheel in the right place, you'll never have to move it again.
Run it and next time you fuel make sure you don't fill it more than what you're at right now. Unless the next chicken coop is pretty far away from your location.
cliffordloofe@reddit
I’d rock that. You’ll most likely burn some fuel and be truly legal. But DOT won’t mess with you at that point honestly.
Also in case you didn’t know, 1 gal of fuel weighs 8 lbs. if you need to ever figure the weight of fuel into your load.
Chance_Royal5094@reddit
7.2-ish, depending upon temperature.
Don't haul fuel, do you? LOL.
Tasty_Explorer_6910@reddit
Water is 8 lb to gal. But easy to figure from
Chance_Royal5094@reddit
Water is 8.33/US gal.
Ocean water is even heavier....
WTFisjuice1@reddit
What's heavier a Kg of steel, or a Kg of feathers?
Chance_Royal5094@reddit
LOL, gotcha!
Ancient-Composer7789@reddit
Specific gravity of diesel fuel ranges from .82 to .95 so multiply 8.33 by the s.g. to obtain density of diesel fuel per US gallon.
Chance_Royal5094@reddit
I didn't want to over complicate things, regarding spec grav and temps.
Chris_MS99@reddit
Eh I haul fuel and I didn’t know that off the top of my head. I just know diesel and ethanol are heavier than gas lol
Chance_Royal5094@reddit
Yup.
bob696988@reddit
Five pounds on the drive and 3 pounds on the steers. Pretty sure everyone knows or should know
skeeter72@reddit
That's a few gallons and a solid crap away from perfect.

20 pounds ain’t nothing. Anything north of 400 is when you should start expecting to get pulled in
shadowmib@reddit
Just get a Big gas can in the hose. Siphon out 20 lb of fuel from the tank and then strap it to the. Bumper and you should be perfect
Scriptapaloosa@reddit
Go and take a dump inside loves and you will be OK.
MatrixUserNumberJuan@reddit
Hopefully that’s with at least 50% fuel or you’re going to get to know every truck stop cashier on your route.
unlikely_intuition@reddit
step out of the truck and off the scale...
HowlingWolven@reddit
Send’r, bud. Don’t fuel higher than what you were unless you have an APU and are passing through states that recognize the exemption
jabber1990@reddit
can a scalemaster on duty just arbitrarily decide he doesn't recognize the exemption?
i've always assumed that the scalemaster was the one who had final say
HowlingWolven@reddit
If the state is one of the ones that doesn’t officially recognize it by law, potentially. No one’s gonna raise a fuss over 20 lbs though.
Killexia82@reddit
Wow, that's perfect lol
Row30@reddit
You’re legal. Drive. And remember that a gallon of fuel is approximately 8 lbs.
FaithlessnessOdd6952@reddit
Diesel is about 7 ld/gal. Water is about 8 and diesel is lighter than water
Row30@reddit
Excuse me. I see my typo. I have fixed it. Thank you

I have no idea where your fuel goes, but i'd run it anyway! it won't take long to burn off 20lbs of fuel
Annual-Skill-7432@reddit
Leave it alone. You'll burn some fuel weight off.

Only the balance shifts back, the trailer remains at the same weight on tandems and the steers and drives are the ones that reduce in weight.

The Flying J in Granite City, IL is the reason I started using the app. Downloaded it while standing in a long ass line to get a scale ticket.
